One is certainly more centered in one's perspectives if one finds single-mindedness in an achievement rather than malignment.

Some people just can never accept change, preferring to hold onto their outdated idealisms. Change is inevitable, you can either accept it or become embittered by it. The choice Pope has made is clear.

Nothing out there is insulated, unless you get into the high-end RV's. I can vouch for the man-hours involved in the process. Not cost-effective. That is why I started from scratch. Hell, I had a 20K Eurovan Camper and...no insulation. Therein lies the crux: buy a mini-van, tear out and replace the finish to install insulation, or start from scratch.

MiniVans will not accomodate weight well, if you are going to be packing gear, people. It's the equivalent of a 1971 VW Bus fully loaded: slow for you, very hard on the engine. Cargo vans are the next step up. Commercially, the Chevy Vortech engines are the best thing going, but other options I pursued over tha last 3 months are: Mercedes Cargo Van (very rare) Ford diesel (5.9 liter, I think, but still ~20-22 MPG, and they call it the 500,000 mile engine). Price is escalated for the diesels by 2-3000 dollars. The Park and Sell was inflexible and not invested in their clientel, in my experience. I went through an established local dealership, as I could not find them on private party listings ( but I AM in Bellingham. Hope my research helps! sickie E

I feel like a pariah in my home town. In all my 18 years of travelling, living and climbing, never have I met a tougher town than Bellingham. Not that I am the most socially effervescent person, but, Damn. 4 years and not a single regular climbing partner.

The yellow rosettes in the green carpet pick up the maple color nicely. I just found an article by Dad in 'Summit' (April 1961) of an ascent of the Nooksack Tower. Family friend Dave Hiser and Mike Borghoff, October 1960. They "diagonalled across North Face" to make their ascent. 15 months before I was born. A quote: "Cascade bushwacking has it's reward, I reflected, and that reward is the positive knowledge that there is a barbed-wire barrier between you and the civilized world, coupled with the kingly privacy of your very own alpine meadow."
