Flebbi feels intimidated by all the big words. It's OK, fleb. Maybe you and Trask should hang out some time.
-
you dont know shit about fishing. Sorry, I mean Dumb Ass.

No Fucking Way! Sphinx=Cool. Trask= well, Trask. Lummox=dumbass.

How I started? In the gym, then TRing at the local crag. Then sport leading at Smith. Then sewing up the cracks on TR at the local crag. Then leading the local crag, then alpine rock, now some ice. And no fucking class, ever. Hah!
-
Oh, and BTW, I was at Smith once, near a very annoying large class. One of the students led a nice 5.7, belayed by another student. At the top, the leader set up some sort of an anchor (two bolts w/chains at the top, this was sport), then yelled down to his belayer: "Do you think this anchor is OK?". His buddy shouted up "I think so. Why don't you rappel and we'll ask the instructor!". Quite a safe way to learn climbing, huh? I moved on, not wanting to have to carry them out.
-
Look at the ones that take the classes and think that some of them would prolly be out there without instruction if they couldn't get it. That's a frightning thought. I'm not saying that you can't self-teach, I'm just saying that not everyone can self-teach. Since when has the general population actually been thinking and using common sense? Without common sense you won't last long in climbing. I always figure if people won't (can't?) take the time and effort to teach themselves, then they won't be very safe climbers even if they DO take a class.
-
I am "without instruction" and consider myself a safe climber. My point is that you can learn to climb safely (if not more safely) on your own. It doesn't take a huge group and some pompous instructors.
-
Bullshit. I never learned how to climb by taking a class. Much is common sense, and books will take you a long way.

Repair advice on a BD Express screw?
Sphinx replied to michaeljosephnozel's topic in Climber's Board
No, it's just ONE screw. And it's not like it undermines the strength of the screw either. -
Gee, that's convincing. Check this out. I can't tell you how hard it is, how cold it was, what tools I was climbing on, etc, etc, but it's me all right!

being called an asshole is no big deal, but a liar usually leads me to beating someone. anyways, what the fuck you gonna give me to show you i got a picture of myself on R&I? a reward for being a bigger sprayer than the tard who started this thread? a beer? 5 dollar? whats in it for me? I ain't no 'tard. I just wanted to compliment these guys and you have to go and ruin my thread. And make me feel like shit. Take it to Spray, asshole. If I had know you when you were in a mag I might have complimented you, too. Now, you just act like a retard. Up yours. And to Colin, Forrest, Glassgowkiss & Co, here's one to you!
-
Complimenting the climbers, dumbfuck. I have a homework assignment for you. Read "The Rise and Fall of the American Alpinist", by Mark Twight. It's in "Kiss or Kill". Too many people sit on their asses, never doing anything new, justifying why nothing newsworthy ever occurs in WA. I don't care about the mag, but I think it's great that some new, hard climbs are being done. Now go sit on your ass and rationalize why you're so pathetic.

Read my previous post. I don't advocate stickering private property. You're right, it's vandalism and hence illegal. But I still think that people who drive an SUV and don't need it are stupid.
-
You are correct. You have every right to buy whatever the fuck you please, and drive it whereever you want (as long at it's not in the wilderness, etc.) However, it is our right to be able to ridicule your choice of transportation. Stickering SUVs is stupid, as it's vandalism. But flaming people online is fine. It's called freedom of speech.
-
Listen, asshole, complimenting people is POSITIVE. It's what this website needs some more of. I might suck, but I have some ambition, and these guys fuel it. Fuck you.
-
Pull your head out of the sand, JG. Most anti-SUV people make legitimate arguments against SUVs, and rather than responing with legitimate pro-SUV arguments you just stupidly insult people. Maybe it's because there are no arguments for you driving your SUV. It's tough to argue when the other people are right.....
-
What a dumbass. I never liked the fucker anyways. No wonder Climbing has gone to hell.
-
Last word - then I gotta get ready for field work, put the chainsaw in the truck (for cutting fallen logs across the road) and use a truck that was made for going where you'll never take that shiny yup-mobile. What I was agreeing to is "If you buy one for how it makes you look, then you're stupid". You said you wanted " to poject the right image to you employees". And at the grocery store I bet. I love to sticker those shiny new ones. It's obvious when rigs are used for work or serious play - and when they'er driven to pick up the kids and lattes. Posers deserve the riducule they get. http://www.changingtheclimate.com Jim, that's just not cool man. It really isn't. If you get collared and some dude kicks your head in then I have to say you had it coming. You have absolutely no right whatsoever to manifest your beliefs in the guise of posting gay fucking stickers on someone's property. That's vandalism done in a most sneaky and underhanded sort of way. If you care about the environment, take the shit you need for work, strap it to a fucking yak and walk to work. I drive an SUV and I fucking ridicule you sad pathetic shiteheads that think you are in a position to ridicule me. You are the object of ridicule on this thread Jim with your poofy antics and smug comments. Go shag a hole in the ground you insolent wankstain. All the SUVers feel threatened by those of us who make valid points. Penis envy is a funny thing. While stickering might not be an appropriate technique, I, too, redicule people who own SUVs and use them were other vehicles are more appropriate. For commuting, buy some cheap compact. For most nasty logging roads and the like, a Subaru will do. I figure unless you drive REALLY nasty terrain very often, there is not need for a SUV. Plus they are more dangerous in a wreck. Sphinx hath spoken.

I just got the newest issue of Rock and Ice Magazine. Though I usually bash the mags, on page 28 I look, and find reports on Colin and Forrest's Inspiration climb, and Glassgowkiss & Co.'s route on Pyramid. This is the first time I have ever seen a report on new routes in Washington in the mags. I gotta say, Awesome job, guys. Let's get WA on the hardman's map.
