  1. Looks like everyone had a bad case of the stupids there that night. As for using a taser on someone resisting arrest, what should they have used? Harsh language? The guy had a couple of chance to produce ID and failed to do so. He had a chance to walk out of the building and failed to do so. Maybe the guy was a serial rapist or an arsonist with an arrest warrant. That's ok, son, you go back to studying. We don't want to cause an incident.
  2. Doesn't have anything to do with racism, but you're not clever enough to see that are you? You see, there are these things called 'words'. They have particular meanings....oh, never mind. If you're clever enough to remember how to do it, scroll back and witness my advocacy of, shock horror, free market solutions! Or do you just cruise around here looking for someone you hate? Must be easy for someone like you.
  3. Them I'm familiar with too......
  4. Funny how all you ex-communists are the biggest advocaters of social Darwinism.....
  5. I'd buy that for a dollar. Of course, this ignores those who aren't working or can't work or the elderly or the chronically ill. Clever people should be able to find a solution to that (assuming we can put a financial stranglehold on pharma/healthcare/insurance lobbyists). Assuming, of course, we even care about 'those people'.....
  6. I did, I just thought numerous passages in it were silly.
  7. Every time you look up in the night sky and see a star or a galaxy thousands/millions/billions of light years away, you're observing history.
  8. Somebody should. It's messed up. Even business leaders recognize this. Simply saying 'Nationalized health care isn't the answer' isn't sufficient. At least she's encouraging a dialog about the problem, which is better than ignoring the problem and hoping it goes away or simply saying 'You're all on your own now'. The model we have now simply isn't working and it's clear the pharma/health/insurance industries aren't really interested in changing things. Given the influence of these industries in DC, we obviously don't have a competitive free market in this area.
  9. Now that wasn't really necessary, was it?
  10. Maybe only the ones into BDSM?
  11. 'Accidental genius'. I like it.
  12. Yup
  13. Never had a need for a concealed weapon but if I had to get one I'd probably seriously consider a Sig Sauer P220. I've shot them before and like it a lot. Pretty good right out of the box without a lot of need for modification to make you happy with it.
  14. Why do you check them *after* the harvest? I'm sure my employers don't wait to check my SSN until *after* I quit working for them....
  15. Laugh it up, furball.
  16. "current leadership doesn't seem geared toward helping the needy in the world" Current leadership ushered into office gladly and with great rejoicing, by said Christian electorate.
  17. But they won! They have a mandate from the masses! They have much political capital to spend! Oh, wait..that was last time. Never mind.
  18. You aren't likely to be reading your average hand-held compass to .5 degree accuracy anyway.

  20. Impeachment. Very bad idea right about now. I'd be all for investigations and fact finding and letting a lot of sunshine into a part of our government that's been shrouded far too long. Congress does indeed need to re-assert it's oversight role. They can ham-string Bush as it is and any investigations would likely bring to light enough information for people to make their own conclusions (which it seems they have anyway). No need to become more fractious as a nation in these times.
  21. Try typing in some of the names of the suspicious processes into Google. If it's a known spyware/malware/etc it should crop up and possibly some advice about what to do about it. This may not be the source of your problem, but it should help eliminate something.
  22. Sounds like the sort of thinking one associates with Jihadists, Inquisitionists, and True Believers everywhere.... Doesn't sound like it has much to do with 'liberalism' or 'conservatism'. Unless you're an idiot that is.
  23. Who's got a good rec for a rain jacket for running in this weather? I've got climbing plans for next year and have to stay on schedule. Anyone try the Asics Storm Shelter? Crap, I hate running in the rain.
  24. They're always so sorry....*after* they've been caught.
