  1. It's best if they don't know you're a skier, then maybe they won't make the connection and you can use any excuse you like. It's to late for me. I get just a little to happy at work when it starts to snow.
  2. Haul some beer up there. You'll be a hero, or you could get rich, maybe both!

    hybrid cars

I had a 92 Civic with milage in the mid/low 40s and I now have a 2000 Civic with milage in the mid 30s. In 92 the technology produced a gasoline burning vehicle with milage that competes with hybrid technology and was better than the milage of a comparable much newer car. Is it that we can't do better because people want "more" car, heavier, bigger tires, etc?

    South Park

CNN asks, "Did South Park go to far in mocking Tom Cruise?" Discuss.
  5. Scrambled, The mounting location is based on the front plate, so just move the heel plate and you'll be all set.
  6. I like all this "old skewl" stuff, like climbing WI5 with bare fingernails. But, if your like me and you're lucky to get out once a week, very lucky, it's awful nice to have a little help from modern gear.

    Rest Day

Sounds like a good day to sharpen stuff!
  11. I don't use it while traveling. It puts the attachment point above your center of mass and makes it a lot easier for a falling partner to pull you off-balance.
  12. I have this problem, er I mean I have a friend that has a problem. He keeps ripping his scholler pants with his crampons. Any advice for patching scholler?

Is the Tahoma likely to be badly broken up? Thanks for all the info.

  16. One solution is to use two pairs, one thin pair for the sharp end when you need to fiddle with stuff and one warm pair for everything else.

    Let's join Canada

How do I get Canada to take me in?
  18. The one thing that I'm always thankful for is having everything racked on key-lock biners (no hook on the nose). It's saves a lot of energy getting gear off the sling or harness.

    ATC wear

I'm looking for information regarding wear on my ATC. The break hand side of the ATC is rounded from the rope running around it, but on the other side a square edge is being created by the rope running straight out of it. This doesn't look like a problem unless the rope was reversed, e.g. use the opposite side for the break, or on rappel, where one strand gets the round edge and the other gets the square edge. Any idea when it should be retired?
  20. I think the 03's are better but I'm still testing mine.
  21. I was just having this fantasy that maybe it wasn't so.
  22. Manufacturers sometimes offer discount ropes. They typically have a higher impact force and are rated for less falls. Good idea, bad idea, or it depends?

  24. What's the point of this political ping pong? Has anybody been brought to the dark (other) side? It looks like we are divided, period. Who's on the fence? Anybody?
