  1. That picture on the link would have looked funnier if Arnold had a submachine gun in his hands.
  2. yur honesty is as remarkable as yurlack of conviction. Exerpt from W.B. Yeats' poem, The Second Coming Did Yeats presage the future?
  3. Fairweather, I can't say that my ideas concerning politics have solidified yet. I'm not quite a one party animal. My politics changed in the mid-ninties to fiscally conservative, socially responsible like many folks though I wouldn't go too far as to say i'm a Bushie compassionate conservative. It seems that an actor playing a role in the political realm is a hired gun. Yeah, they're citizens too and should have the opportunity to dive in. But there’s just something mercenary about it. My understanding of the situation is that this is a great country and we can afford to do great things but do so intelligently, or at least should strive along those lines. I want to see things go well and I think the American people need to be shown the truth in all of its forms, good or bad. And, that O'Reilly/Willis interview is not the bottom line, just one part of the picture. It's just one perspective of a many faceted situation.
  4. God! Why are we listening to these actors (Willis, Schwarzenegger) anyway! THey make a living by pretending to be someone else. Entertaining yes. But downright creepy when they get involved in politics.

This guy, Terence McKenna, says that our primate ancestors ate hallucinogenic mushrooms, which he claims in small doses improves visual acuity. If true, it might allow you to see the small projectile rocks before they pelt down on you.

    Hmmm....

In the realm of biology, some scientists have proposed that one of the drivers in evolutionary innovation has been predator-prey interaction. Selective pressure and adaptation occur in prey species to include camouflage, evasive behavior, development of the senses, and intelligence. Evolution in predators has also occurred in similar developments, almost in lockstep. In cultural evolution, war has forced innovation too. The development of computers is closely linked to cryptography (codes) which developed largely in military campaigns. Look at the developments in space science. There's a strong military component to that. You could probably list many more innovations and such that resulted from research in military applications. On a personal level, war sucks but from a historical perspective, it seems to be the leading edge of innovation.

  10. Fired, resigned. Doesn't matter. Rush's brand of commentary is probably not wanted by mainstream advertisers. Even though their demographic is predominantly white, it seems like a big disfavor to the NFL players to have kept Rush on. A joke perhaps but shows poor judgment. Similar to the comment made by Jimmy the Greek years ago. He says he didn't mean any harm in it but it sure was dumb.
  11. "when you can snatch the pebble from my hand, it will be time for you to leave."
  12. Funny, the guy might not actually believe he's a racist although his remarks are construed by others as racist. The same time I heard the story that Rush was fired, i also heard that he is heavily addicted to illegally obtained pain killers.
  13. Wow, that's great.
  14. Seems you always have to bring some context into it so that you can connect with the artist's intention and derive some meaning (interpretation). Is good art supposed to move you, either repulse or attract you or is that just pornography? Honestly, most art doesn't speak to me. Don't know if that's just a shortcoming on my part or what. Maybe too much tv.
  15. Art as social commentary? Or just catholic bashing? Local sculpture irks some on Kansas campus
  16. Police speed trap nabs a dozen of their own I don't know how many times I've seen cops speeding on the freeway or on city streets--without their lights or sirens on.
  17. Who defines what constitutes eco-terrorism ? If I were the ruthless CEO of a company intent on developing and effectively destroying a rock climbing area, would that constitute eco-terrorism? B) Call up and ask the FBI. Of course, the CEO is not an ecoterrorist. He's operating within the law even though the law may be written to primarily benefit his company. ALF, on the other hand, is composed of protesters who often break the law to draw attention. A particular protest action is as meaningless as the caricatured anarchist hurling a ball bomb. In the overall scheme of things, they tend to marginalize the issue through violence. Sometimes though the extremists make the message pushed by the moderate activists appear more palatable. How many debates have their actions sparked in internet bulletin boards, in school and college classrooms, break rooms at work, and other places where people gather to talk? Maybe none. Or maybe the discussions were so one-sided that there was nothing to discuss. So ok, maybe their actions were absurd but has anyone stopped to think and perhaps compare the detrimental actions by ALF to those committed by commercial interests? Which is the greater evil? Some of ALF's members have to be pathological but others have to be driven by well-reasoned philosophy.
  18. You may find this site interesting: independent media tv The complete website is at the root directory. Nietzsche said ”When the ends are great, humanity employs other standards and no longer judges crime as such even if it resorts to the most frightful means.” Makes ya wonder who or what our politicians hold as their highest authority. Is it the US Constitution, an ineffable God, a tribal mind meme, a particular think-tank agenda, what?
  19. Are they like a new Ministry or Rage Against the Machine?
  20. You'll probably scream and cry that your world won't let you go But who in your measly little world are you trying to prove that you're made out of gold and can't be sold (goin' off memory)

  22. You forgot Yeah, I'm personally not concerned with their plight. I gotta watch out for myself first. Then, if things are going all right, ok, then I can have some sympathy.

  24. Hi everybody! What's really sad is how fucking pathetically PC this country has become. You can't even say "Nazi" without being called a Nazi sympathizer. Just look at the word "*". We can't even say "*" anymore, we have to say "The N-Word". If I say "He called her a *." I'm an insensitive rascist. Instead, it's expected of me to say "He called her the N-word." SO, I guess when I'm walking through a swamp, I now have to say "I stepped from N-word head to N-word head." Also, a person has to be said to be behaving "N-word-ardly". Doctor, I do believe you're blowing this out your ass. Saying '*' has the connotation of calling someone a 'dog', someone almost subhuman not deserving of dignity or respect. Now, I know some of the bruthas call each other 'nigga' but that has a different connotation. Nazi. Well, some people take that title with cloaked pride. BTW, one can decide to be or not be affiliated with this political party. One can't change the color of one's skin.
  25. The current administration? Chickenhawks all of them except Colin Powell who strangely favors diplomacy over war.
