  1. Dave's "new" $40 Dachstein.
  2. I with the dog lovers. Which the Amish distinctly are not. Makes me wonder how they'd treat a cow. My bet is it aint so nice.
  3. I had forgotten about Kendal mint cake!! Dan, I bought another...no way I'd fit in my original. Didn't fit into this one for another a year or so after I bought it
  4. I sewed up several pairs of Dachstein mitts over the years. Gave my last well worn pair away. But used at least a half dozen pair until they were thread bare. The sweaters on the other hand? I had ownd a lwt version because it was a good deal less expensive bitd. Been skiing a bit in an original and am finding out just how good they really were. More here: http://coldthistle.blogspot.com/2011/05/dachstein-wool.html
  5. Anyone still use the mitts, gloves or sweaters? Easy to forget just how good the stuff was.

    Ski In 2011

    sounds fun
  7. Sadly funny..like want to puke funny. I was just in the REI here and listened while a female sales person hyped the carbon fiber fork to a potential female buyer. I wanted to stop and shake her. (all my bikes are carbon but I didn't buy them at REI)
  8. I got the same form letter..what BSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
  9. One shown, of a pair of skis. Skis, skins and binding set.
  10. pm sent
  11. the skiing is so good right now!
  12. I have used all four liners mentioned. (if you are a 11.5/12 I can make you a screaming deal on new liners My order of preference would be Palau or Factory and even that is a toss up if you have correctly fitting shells and a reasonable set of liners Last choice would be Intuition. The over lapping tongue on the Intuition is great for ski boots terrible imo in a climbing boot. Simply too stiff on forward ankle flex. Worth it for the Intuition? No imo. There are so many good dbl boots available now. The Koflachs have been around for 30 years basically unchanged. Still a good boot but when it comes time to upgrade you are generally looking at $200 plus for new liners and a fitting. Money better spent on newer boot designs imo. Twight's book is 12 years old. Today there are better/warmer/lighter boot technologies for cold weather than what Mark had available.
  13. Raining up there right now. Isothermic snow conditions into the parking lot including the cat track out of the upper lot. With no skis and I was into my knees on the freaking cat track! Even my dog was faltering so I wasn't there long. Snow level from last night was down to 3000' with an inch or two of new snow. Snow level at 4PM today was around 4000' by the look of it with several inches up higher. I am looking for sunshine and cooler temps. We should have both tomorrow.

    ski packs?

Thanks everyone. Anyone used the Dynafit packs?
  15. Cool But how about Crystal to Chinook...way less climbing!
  16. So who has skied from Crystal to Chinook? How did you get back to Crystal? Anyone want to share the beta and time involved. Snow went to shit at 10am yesterday in the sunshne so I was hestitant to jump the next ridge. Anyone want to do it next nice day with an early start?
  17. Native? I'm new to Native as of this last winter but now have 3 pair with multiple lens. I really like their sun glass frames and lens for skiing and climbing. Native has been great. Some of the other dealers I bought Native lens from not so much. If your frame is still being made (my favorite isn't) new lenses should be easy. http://www.nativeyewear.com/purchase/sunglasses/lens-kits.html I went shopping on the internet to get my spare lens. That was hit and miss but the prices were good and I did finally get them...but it took 3 1/2 weeks from Eye Save..good prices..service sucked.
  18. I'm looking for a ski specific pack that is light weight and comfortable for skis. Anyone have something they really like that is easy on and off for the skis. For day stuff I like what I have, but figured there has to be something out there rigged just for randonee style skiing.
  19. We ended up with ski plans (or I would be there) but I bet it would be fun if you got on it early tomorrow morning.
  20. Layers on Denali can run from jst your long johns and be too hot to everything you have and you'll still want more. This may help on what you want to take. http://coldthistle.blogspot.com/2010/11/winter-layers.html
  21. +1 for Westcomb as well. Stellar gear, materials and designs.
  22. I just finished a run of Petzl hammers. Buy a pair now and save $40. $80 for a pair plus actual shipping at the moment. They will fit old and New Nomics with no change to the tool head and they will fit the newest T rated Petzl picks. Plus the new Quark and Ergo. Great/better balance on all the tools. Send me a PM if you are interested.
  23. Own? Oh ya! Dan, curious, what skis are you riding? They look to be dbl rockered fatties?
  24. as did I. The 2 timing bitch! Not happy as the spam obviously had something to do with our being on cc.com
