  1. Switch climbing disciplines. I wish I had time to train more, and get strong. So instead, I flail on easy alpine routes, easy ice routes, and on easy ski slopes.
  2. I think his point was your just another cc pocket hardman, who sprays far bigger than he can sack. yeah that was my point, but said with much less tact. If I don't know anything, then why are there so many people who agree with me?
  3. Viper and Rage have small grips.
  4. You're the only one on XCDs these days, Beck. I tried using my straight skins on my shaped skis. Once. The next day I bought fat skins and trimmed them to fit. It sucks to shift your weight slightly only to faceplant because you're now standing on the unskinned edge of your ski. Not cool. i love this shit. only on cc.com will you have someone who appears to have just started skiing (cracked) giving a bunch of crap to someone who has probably been skiing longer (beck) than said person has been alive. What's your point? Beck didn't even give any 'compelling reasons' against shaped skins other than versatility. My point is you talk like you know everything, yet you admittedly just bought the gear six months ago. Beck asks some legitimate questions and you bash on him. Why don't you get some experience before you start laying waste to everyone elses points. "Legitimate questions"? The only legitimate point he made was that shaped skins prevent using one pair of skins on multiple skis. I'm still waiting for the other 'compelling reasons' for throwing away my shaped skins. As for the experience issue, Marylou has been skiing for as long as Beck has, but she doesn't pretend to be the God of equipment. In my experience, shaped skins are worth it. This is SUCH a stupid argument.
  5. Huh? That wasn't me. That was Crazy_Jeff.
  6. I think I'm going to revive my gorts for this winter! Shouldn't my title by "gortboy" by now?
  7. That's what you need GU for.

  9. Ok, let's get specific. I've got a pair of Miras, dimensions 112-79-102, and my straight skins are 65mm wide. I used them because I had nothing else. The skins were originally for a pair of skinny touring skis, something like 80-68-75. Using these skins on my Miras I noticed that, even in soft snow, if I weight the edge of the ski more I tend to slip. The effect is way greater than with the skinnier skis. I'd argue that wider skins cost only a tiny bit more, it's really easy to trim them, and I want to go up with skins, so why not get the extra grip, even if you don't notice often? More skin=more grip, period, even if it isn't always noticeable. YMMV.

  11. Yeah, or just get frostbite. I'll have to backorder.

  13. What's the third pitch? I only found two hard ones.
  14. Not even the BD store has anything larger than 46. I AM fucked.
  15. You mean WI8? Backes called M16 harder than WI7+.
  16. Oregon Jack.
  17. Bullshit, I trimmed my first pair of shaped skins a few weeks ago, it's dead easy. I've used the TTP attachment, but the disadvantage is that you can kick your skin off. I'm using Lou Dawson's mod right now.
  18. You're not the only one, Trask.
  19. Due to my big hands, I LOATHE neutrinos....I've used em a few times and I cannot operate the gate. NO WAY. I'm using Hotwires, they might be slightly heavier, but at least I can clip.
  20. I need size 14. both? Yes, dad.
  21. Have you EVER been climbing outside of the Northwest? It gets alot colder elsewhere. I've been climbing with GTX, Fleece, and still been cold in the 'Daks. STFU. Yeah, only this is cascadeclimbers.com. Why not go more versatile and get an uninsulated softshell and a fleece coat to match?
