  1. big ant hills are rampant in the scrublands east of bend i love to chuck rocks at em, and then give them golden showers, though i haven't tried dropping brown coils on them from great heights.
  2. i heard something on the news about a west side route, but this was from the national gaurd dispatch, but really don't know
  3. from www.bend.com August 21 - A Eugene man who fell and injured his ankle Saturday while climbing Mount Washington was rescued along with his wife by an Oregon National Guard helicopter crew and flown to a Salem hospital, officials said. John Manotti, 42, was at about 7,000 feet elevation, about 800 feet below the summit, when the accident occurred. His wife, Lisa, contacted the Linn County Sheriff’s Office about 11 a.m., said Sheriff Dave Burright. Rescue teams from the Jefferson and Linn county sheriff’s offices responded to the scene, along with the Corvallis Mountain Rescue Unit, the sheriff said. Meanwhile, a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter from the Oregon National Guard’s 1042nd Medical Company was dispatched from Salem to assist in the rescue, at the request of Linn County officials. Manotti was hoisted aboard the helicopter, as was his wife, rather than leave her alone on the peak until ground crews could reach her, National Guard officials said. The original plan for the helicopter’s five-member crew was to take the pair to a waiting ambulance at the Army Aviation Support Facility in Salem. But an irregular pulse in Menotti’s foot prompted a change in plans and direct trip to Salem Memorial Hospital for treatment, officials said
  4. the only strip clubs worth attending are those that serve libations. i highly reccomend San Antonio, TX, everything is bigger down in Texas.
  5. did someone say lil johns? WHAT?
  6. 2nd on the route from green lakes, much more scenic, less crowds. poles would work fine for the snow patches and those small patches are negotiable in tennis shoes even. have fun!
  7. sorry yes i meant se ridge
  8. another alternate route, although a bit longer, would be to approach via Pole Creek TH, hike to Chambers Lakes (~ 6 miles), and climb the SW Ridge. There are some snow patches still visible, that you could practice arrest on, but the route is totally snow free. Scree slog from chambers lakes all the way to the top, probably a bit more solitude/less folks on that side of the mountain as well, no steeper sections like the small steep on the North Ridge. The only benefit of starting early imho is avoiding the heat, but the common glacier start practiced on the likes of rainier is not needed. Chambers Lakes makes a great camp site with wonderful vistas of all sisters and brokentop.
  9. yeah leg 29 looks like hell. i'm just hoping the weather cools off a bit before the race. i'll be in a fancy outfit for racing, and probably will leave it on for the beach party too.

  13. family season pass included we have computer equipment all over the mountain, you get paid to ski 1st chairs there is a freee bus to and from bend, but we have a pimp ass astro van AT setup? If ya don't got one yet, then your priorities just ain't str8 agreed, the salary is pretty minimal but not too bad for bend. another benefit is a month off from work, on top of paid vacation. A month off. first 2 weeks piad, 2nd 2 weeks unpaid. But hoenstly, if you are looking to get rich, the ski industry isn't the path... this is a job for someone who feels that working in the mountains, and having a morning commute through the wilderness is $bling$ in and of itself. spray? oh you know it!

  22. The trail system is just on the other side of the road from the Inn. I'm pretty sure there is a trail right next to the hwy there, but not positive. You can always drive over to the normal trailhead off of Skyliners road, or access from the snowparks too.
