  1. Nice turnout. We had Jim Nelson, Kit, Mattp, Thinker, Marylou, Icegirl, AlpinFox, Sergio, klenke, Snugtop, Treadtramp (beer glass breaker), Toast and there were others, but I am drawing a blank right now. Come on, help me out here.
  2. Hey Alex!
  3. The north face of Pilchuck is one pitch of mid-fifth class if you climb right under the lookout building. Watch out for broken glass and other debris.
  4. They had this contest in Vermont, sponsored by Odor Eaters to find the stinkiest tennis shoes. The judges actually give the shoes the old "stiff test" like your mother used to do. An 11 year old boy won it. Obviously, Ade did not enter the contest. After 10 pitches of Dreamer on a hot day his rock shoes would have won hands down. We had a "stinky rock shoe" thread somewhere, but I'll be damned if I could find it. Rotten Sneaker Contest
  5. Don't wear carbon clothing in a lightning storm. You'll be like a giant spark plug wire.
  6. See you at Pub Club tonight, Alex.
  7. Likewise for chloroplasts and perhaps vacuoles.
  8. Uh, Dru - as long as gravity is the same, a 10m fall has exactly the same forces produced. Fall factor describes how much rope is available to absorb the energy. Sounds like you have a misconception. The impact force developed in a 10 m fall varies with the fall factor. IF is directly proportional to both your weight and the FF. Fall factor and not distance fallen determines whether impact force is sufficient to activate the screamer.
  9. Let's see how long that photo survives.
  10. I think I have them at bay for the moment, but they have a way of returning. I think they are tiny enough that they come through the screen, or else they just hide in some corner.
  11. I feel so much better now what I understand more about the bugs that periodically infest my orchid plants. "So, the naturalists observe, the flea, Hath smaller fleas that on him prey; And these have smaller still to bite 'em; And so proceed, ad infinitum" -Jonathan Swift Tiny Bugs In Mealybugs Have Smaller Bugs Inside Them (from Science Daily) Like tiny Russian dolls, the mealybugs that infest your houseplants carry bacteria inside their cells that are themselves infected with another type of bacteria. A new study by researchers at the University of California, Davis, shows that instead of spreading from bug to bug, the second set of bacteria infected the first several times in the past and are now being passed along and evolving with them. Complete story for other science geeks
  12. It has already been established that there is no female equivalent to beer goggles. In fact, the opposite effect has supposedly been demonstrated. Thus alcohol isn't the answer, either.
  13. I think I may have been banned for an hour, else the site was down. Is minx yanking my chain?
  14. See y'all there.
  15. Minx, are you folks at the sex drug company working on a product for the ladies? There's big bucks if you can take advantage of that untapped market.
  16. I was being sarcastic, minx. You seem a bit too sensitive to be a spray moderator.
  17. There has been a rather concerted effort to kill off Spray. First by banning the more "interesting" avatars, then people through the dreaded "IP Ban", now relegating the forum to the very bottom of the list, formerly occupied by Body Results. Will The Milque Toast Brigade succeed in their quest to turn cc.com into a clone of rc.com?
  18. The important thing is that more kinetic energy to be dissipated or absorbed by the tearing of the threads than released from potential energy by the resultant extension of the sling. This is in fact the case.
  19. You can hide an alcoholic's stash of Colt 45, but he most assuredly will search until he finds it. The same is true of Spray.
  20. Christmas came late for Dru, but he finally got what he wanted. The Squid
  21. It's about time the "NEW" got dropped.
  22. Here is a picture of the summit that was taken on Saturday from the Tatoosh Range the day of the attempt. Note the thin lenticular cloud.
