  1. Actually there are some cracks to the right of the routes at Zig Zag Wall that have frequently been used for that purpose.
  2. What about crazy_t's idea, the Beveridge Place Pub? Ever heard of it, Toast?
  3. That would make you "dentally challenged"?
  4. I have a question. How would anyone know what the "real" knotzen is like anyway?
  5. That is an odd looking shoe to be sure.
  6. If you promised to be there and look hot, I would be willing to bet that lots of climbers would show up.

    Shocking

Those platform shoes should provide sufficient insulation.
  8. I don't understand how your office window could possibly influence snow on mountains that are as distant as the Olympics. I rather think it melted.
  9. The word "liberal" and the phrase "Ninth Circuit Court" are completely redundant.
  10. Yeah? I noticed that you started posting on RC.com recently. Are they serious enough for you? Come back as soon as you get bored.
  11. A sample: "In the entire three days we needed to get to the summit, we crawled on our fours, over snow and ice slopes between 65 and 70 degrees steep."
  12. Where is Duroxmanie? He's got a story from Three O'Clock Rock he can tell.
  13. My former Waters sales rep had "hyperhydrosis" or whatever you call it. He's always wipe his hand on his pants before shaking hands, but they were still clammy. I felt for the guy. A curse for someone in sales. It didn't hinder him as he was a very talented salesman and knew his line very well.
  14. Unless you're a gaper and you are the one who is out of control? Also, it's a proven fact that no skier has ever run into a snowboarder. Ever. I'm sure it's happened, but the one time I was nailed from behind, it was a snowboarder. They think that running the fall line is "in control" until some object is in front of them, at which time, they discover the truth. My "Injury without Dignity" story happened while I was in college getting ready to take one of our club's 30 ft sloops out to race the Beer Cans Regatta. Someone let a jib halyard get loose and then pulled it up out of reach. I shinnied up the mast and retrieved it. Everyone was much impressed until I came down. I lost traction and slid down the pole until my shin bone contacted the heavy stainless steel spinnaker pole ring on the front of the mast. I lay writhing on the foredeck in agony until the pain subsided. I probably should have had the leg x-rayed but I went out and did the race instead.
  15. Ha ha ha! Dave left before I got there, so he got photoshopped into the group! Nice!
  16. It's open now. Anyone been there yet?

  18. Tell you what - let's do this test, which is more reflective of real life conditions. You and I will do an unequipped bivi somewhere. No tents, stoves or sleeping bags. Only normal day-trip winter climbing clothing and gear (pack, screws, ice tools etc). You will get a foam pad. Hell, you can bring a Thermarest if you want. I will get a fire. You can't come anywhere near my fire and I can't come anywhere near your foam pad. We will see who is warmer through the night. Okay, but I get to break your back first to make it fair.
  19. I've not heard it expressed like that, just that they are rated hard.
  20. Yes, it's an old saw, but you've probably forgotten more than I've ever learned.
  21. My turn to call BS Dru. Let's do a test. I'll have you lay down in the snow while I spend an hour making a fire. Sure I could get a rope under you or a pack. But if you have a broken back, which would you rather have under you, a nice flat foam pad, or a rope?
  22. I would have to say that based on trip reports, you've been getting out, my friend.
  23. You can't get by without the foam pad even if you can manage to build a fire. The guy was flat on his back on snow.
  24. Enough. Jay made a thoughful post. Time for some moderation here.
