  1. You fellows seem to know a lot about this stuff. Personal experience?
  2. Can anyone come up with photos of her taken before the injections?
  3. There is a cell line used in lab experiments called HeLa. It is immortal. It came from a woman named Henrietta Lacks in 1951 from a cervical cancer that killed her within 8 months of diagnosis. Part of her is alive in many places all over the world.
  4. Gotta put the suffix "gate" after every scandal. Nixon's legacy to America.
  5. Good for you, we need more religon mixed up on these climbing threads, so good for you. Hell yeah, just one more thing to fight over!
  6. Get out the Wagner, baby!
  7. Are you one of those kooky Scientologists?
  8. Not only are comparisions odious, but I also strongly dislike them.
  9. Thank you for your interesting perspective.
  10. It's got to be fun first, otherwise I won't do it. I find that if I compare myself to the rock stars, I just get discouraged. If instead I just focus on incremental improvement, I have more fun.
  11. I think he really wants to talk to a shrink, but he's substituting cc.com for therapy. It's cheap and there are lots of willing, and not so willing "listeners". I'd say we are a poor substitute for the doctor's couch.
  12. If you had that down you'd have to be Chongo.
  13. I think it is not ethical to be talking about these people, even if you don't name names.
  14. Mike, this explains how he gets you do do all the run out pitches. Control through mental telepathy. (MisterE to Layton's brain) Mike, this splitter crack sucks balls. You better give it to MisterE. (Layton with glazed look on face) Yes, master. Please give me the runout, chossy, death pitch. Pulllleeezeee!
  15. New York Gully comes to mind, but I've not done it myself.
  16. Speak for your cynical self, cowboy. You are clearly holding forth on a subject about which you are little informed. Some of the best people who ever lived were self-sacrificing, altruistic and deeply religious. Some of the kindest and most generous and compassionate people I know today are "religious". Lots of folks love to point fingers at the poor behavior of certain individuals who claim to subscribe to a certain religion, but the fact remains: the dubious antics of Jerry Falwell etc. are not representative of Christians in general nor does Osama Bin Laden represent Islam as a whole. Get some perspective, dude. By the way, Free Chongo. My perspective is this. More people have lost their lives in war and murder because of religion than from any other cause. You can keep your religion.
  17. And so now the question is, "how did it go?"
  18. This incident points out how use of the autoblock for rappelling if often a good idea. If ice comes down and smacks your brake hand, it would be good to have that autoblock there, as a back up. It was very lucky indeed that Ryland's partner wasn't hit on his brake hand.
  19. Perhaps I misinterpreted your intent. I was very tired.
  20. Korup and I went to Banks Lake today. We climbed Trotsky's Folly. The bottom 10 meters is WI 2+. The top 15 meters is WI4. It seemed a lot like a pillar with fluting. It was hard for me, not having ever tried something like that, but it was fun. There are huge deathcicles hanging over Devil's Punchbowl, or whatever that nearby WI2 area is called. Trotsky's revenge was in but looked too spicy for the likes of us. I had a few icicles hanging over it but not nearly as bad as DP. Stopped at 59'er Diner on the way home and ran across Eric and Ray who had been climbing ice up near Lake Wenatchee.
  21. Well, your post was undoubtedly directed at me since you know I am over 40 and I certainly do not climb 8a or not even 7a. I don't even know how to translate that to YDS, nor do I care.
  22. Robert, you are micromanaging this thread.
  23. Who's speaking here, Sexual_Chocolate, Dwayner, or Pope? Can't tell who is being quoted or what. And of course, I wouldn't want Pope banned. I was sorry to see Dwayner banned and would still like to see him return. Also, there is a difference between "extreme" and "lunatic". I never accused either of you of being the latter, which would be someone who wanted to shut down all climbing.
  24. Further proof of how the Internet has enriched our lives.
