then you shouldn't have to ask, unless you're confused about where you are.

Friends just returned from a week in the Adamants, and reported too much snow in some places.
-
I'll leave that as an exercise for your Google-fu.

Just here to post in this important thread, and make note that I was also an element in the original... Too bad that TTips got hacked and that thread is probably long gone.

Yeah, I thinnk I might have flubbed it on that one. I was going to go and look for something to back it up, but haven't gotten to it yet. I think, in retrospect, that your statement is closer to the truth.

Impossible, dontcha know the earth is only 6000 years old?!?!

While we are talking Seattle - what's the coffee shop that is across I5 and uphill from REI, a little to the South I think? Lots of emos and laptops...?
-
Randonee - are you talking about a complete release, or are the toe pincers just spreading a little? I am similar in size and weight to you, and I've never noticed this happening, but I've never looked for it either...

I think the "flat" profile of the wide end is also a benefit to running a smooth belay. Many belay devices seem to sit nicely there, and I suspect they may be designed to work with a "belay biner." I have and use the DMM Belay Master. It's OK, but a bit annoying having to lock the biner to clip the plastic thingy into place. It would be nice if they modified it to allow you to close it if locked or unlocked, but I think they figure it's an extra safety feature the way it is.

Re brakes: Remove 1 of the 2 actuation springs. They become a lot easier to live with. They do increase the DIN a little. If you have 2 springs, they are supposedly 1 setting higher. The current crop of retrofit brakes come with softer DIN springs to account for this. They are not perfect, but more or less, they work. Re NAXO vs Dynafit: I have tried both, and feel that the Dynafits are more secure. I have had disastrous prerelease w/NAXO, not so with Dynafit. Re locking the toe: General concensus at TGR forums seems to be that locking the toe increases DIN by a couple of points. Apparently you will still release if you are really beatering... I have not had opportunity to test this theory out yet.

Enough about her back, how's her foot?

[TR] Black Peak-Ski descent - South Ridge 5/26/200
snoboy replied to wayne's topic in North Cascades
Nope, no snow at the road, probably snow around 4600' or so... judging from some snow still on Cutthroat road at the highway. -
nope, well labelled links don't seem to get nuked though.

Haven't found your headgear, and I had a pretty good look around as I was leaving...

ckplanet - it won't be the easiest to find in the dark, but if you follow the posted directions carefully, you'll get there. I'm going to bring some old skis to cross at the gate to make it more obvious this time! Those big avys are probably a good thing in the big picture. It was really hot in the mountains last weekend, and ripped out a lot of the weak points. What's left willl likely be bomber as long as it doesn't get too warm this w/e. Usually about 20-30 people show up.

I don't want to dampen anybody's enthusiasm, but I do want people to have a head's up on this weekend... I'm not sure what the weather is going to do, but here's the results from last weekend: http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=123577

I have one in my bucket of aid gear that I rarely use anymore... It's a mini stickclip. You can sort of half cock it and have a hair trigger action.

This is no longer about climbing, so I'm gonna bump it to SPRAY... otherwise - as you were...
