  1. Actually, Alpinfox, you are incorrect. The autolockers can be used as an ascender, it is even in the instructions. You just need a prussik or something to add to the mix for your second ascender. I have not seen the Matrix, but assume that since it is similar, it should work too.
  2. So, not good for winter use... Hmm. 1L Nalgene = 149 grams 1L Sigg = 185 grams
  3. enamel = glass more or less, and AKAIK, glass is one of the more inert substances around... I kind of wonder though, as most enamel is a bit brittle and would usually crack if the container was dented.
  4. I don't know how steep it is... but they can winch some pretty hairy stuff if they want to. Once they get skier compaction, and grooming, then it is not likely to be avalanche prone anymore.
  5. LAMER then don't bother clicking on the thread either... LOL Squid.

  12. He ended up in Twisp with *gasp* dialup access only!!! A great loss.
  13. I beleive that the newer models have longer pins than the older models (forget namea of said models at the moment) to help prevent the problem that neversummer is describing.
  14. longer also = easier to break though.
  15. The water bottles are lined with enamel, no contact between aluminum and beverage. I used one of their fuel bottles for years, and it never got crushed. It had some dents, but never leaked. Freezing might be an issue. Maybe cbs can figure out the relative pressures of water freezing vs. white gas being warmed up...

    lazy idiots

I never claimed to think of it, actually, I stole it from this tree guy I know...
  17. I think that turn_one was refering to the price, not the quality. People love to post in the Yard Sale about how they got a better deal on the item in question, or they saw a better price somewhere else...
  18. I have always used soda bottles... The recent scare over drinking/eating out of plastic had me thinking about what alternatives might be. It seems that the Sigg bottles have a "taste-inert, food compatible stove enamel which is baked on." Seems like it should be good for booze. I don't know where to buy them though, other than in Europe. Sigg website >english>sigg>production>
  19. Don't worry, "wrong side" is relative, ie the side that you don't use.
