  7. geisha was good, but i agree with your ending. I read it right before travelling to japan (and kyoto) and was lucky enough to spot a few geisha and see Gion with my own eyes. I wish to know now what happens inside those tea houses... Under the Banner is a good book and like all of his, a real page turner...

  11. My fav part of electoral-vote.com Are the voters stupid? It is not considered politically correct to point out that an awful lot of voters don't have a clue what they are talking about. A recent poll from Middle Tennessee State University sheds some light on the subject. For example, when asked which candidate wants to roll back the tax cuts for people making over $200,000 a year, a quarter thought it was Bush and a quarter didn't know. And it goes down hill from there. When asked which candidate supports specific positions on various issues, the results were no better than chance. While this poll was in Tennessee, I strongly suspect a similar poll in other states would get similar results. I find it dismaying that many people will vote for Bush because they want to tax the rich (which he opposes) or vote for Kerry because they want school vouchers for religious schools (which he opposes).

    Curling Anyone?

  13. Yea. the sublinks are broken. Once you get into a section you can't get out. How do you not notice that? Any two-bit novice web programmer should be able to create that simple site that it is.
  14. Ya know, they must've figured that they could get him on the run and to see the audience laugh with stewart and at them was sweet!
  15. I only encode in 192k MP3 and listen on my laptop with foobar2k. It has a tiny footprint and allows you to set the buffer size. No real cool features though, except you can minimize into the systray. Otherwise, I use WMP10.
  16. They have complete packages (board, boots, bindings) on ebay for like $269. Are they any good? It'd be for a beginner (though to maintain my machismo, i'll point out that it's not for me. I am an excellent boarder that could take you all on, of course). What's the rule of thumb on board sizing in the NW? CHin height for a beginner?
  17. it's obvious that the reason she goes so fast is because god wants her to win.

  21. Anybody looking for a java or .net development job, let me know. Hiring senior devs, QA, and PMs as well. Need to hire 10-12 people in the next four months. The company is theplatform (www.theplatform.com). We've been around for over four years now and our core product is a web service for managing large amounts of digital media. Our customers include CNBC, Microsoft (shocking!), Bank of America, and Comcast. The office is in Pioneer Square and we have a fun, yet dedicated employee base. A lot of us have been here for 3-4 years. We do not pride ourselves on long hours. We just expect people to do their work and do it well. We don't do overnighters or work weekends or anything else silly that a lot of tech companies like to do. Cheers. And no Pax, no biologists needed. ;> --tim

    Bush Lied?

I'm not sure where to start. Why does it matter that his generals didn't know he didn't have chemical weapons? I think it just points out that Bush was also assuming and was quick to rush to war. Did this come directly from Fox News or did you write this yourself?
