[TR] Mt Shuksan- Price Glacier Couloir 5/13/2004
eternalX replied to skykilo's topic in North Cascades
How long do you think this ski route will last for? i'd like to climb shuksan and board down. it's got to be melting out, yea? -
Yep. There are a bunch of stats on this. basically the way the EPA detects gas mileage doesn't work well for hybrids. So, all the mpg figures are totally off.

I bought a Da Kine Poacher Guide Poacher pack a few months ago and i love it. Especially the zippers that run down the side against your back and give you vertical access to the entire pack. With the waist strap on, you can flip the pack around to your front, unzip and grab whatever you want without digging around, zip back up and flip back around all without ever taking the pack off. Every time i do that all my friends get jealous. The only con is that if you remove or change too much stuff, the part against your back might get a little out of shape. this has never caused an actual problem for me though. the other high points are Removable frame Diagonal ski carry Snowboard carry hydration pocket and hole shovel carry Da Kine has packs in pretty much every size. i got the 2300 cu in. version. based on the size you get different features, but they are all pretty much the same i think.

Then don't go to a smokey bar. I don't see why you can't be repsonsible for your own personal choices. I don't need the government wasting its time and resources on trying to protect me from myself. I believe the government should not interfere with private business especially regarding an epidemic where the repercussions are so widely known and documented. I'm so sick of you people without an ounce of personal responsibility. When I go to a restaurant that has a crappy atmosphere, bad food, or that is really smoky, I DON'T GO BACK. It's quite simple really. Also, I am NOT a smoker. --tim

Oh i dig....so the government is suppose to guarantee the investments....i c In the private enterprise, you create companes whose sole job is to report on other companies. They are funded by private investors, sort of like Consumer Reports. If they make mistakes, their business suffers (people don't pay for bad information). I would defintely trust somebody who has a job on the line before some government lackey who gets paid no matter what happens.

Also, Alan Greenspan is a Libertarian
-
I'm closer to a libertarian than anythhing else. The reason is because I believe it's probably the most pure of the parties. By that, I mean the whole point of the libertarian party is to put everyone at the same level. It's not about pushing any particular interests.; For example, the Ds would like you to believe that welfare is more important than say lower taxes. The Naderites would have us believe the environment is where we need to invest government money and make laws, etc. The Libertarian stance is we all have our personal views. Let's stop spending money and making decisions at the government level and bring it back to the people. In other words, let's get rid of the lobbyists and special interest groups determing where billions of government money go, cut taxes, and then people can spend their money on what they are interested in themselves. The counter argument to this is that nobody would ever give anything to anyone if that were the case. The Libertarians believe that if taxes were somewhere around the 15% level (which is where the Ls believe it woudl be if our government would focus on one thing, National Defense), we'd be more inclined to spend a little bit more on our own self-interests. We can pick and choose the programs that matter to us. The way the insider trading thing fits in here is that as soon as you start putting the responsibility on a government agency to protect YOUR investments is the exact same time when you stop taking responsibility yourself. I think we saw this at the end of the dot com era. Everyone blamed everyone else for their portfolio evaporating. All the data was there before the bust, the investors chose to ignore it. Because people believe the government is protecting them, there wasn't any group setup to rate investment companies with their activties. When it went boom, people came down on the government to do something about it. Everyone KNEW that there's a big conflict of interest for an investment firm to pump up the stock of a potential customer. This is pretty much the take on all problems for the Libertarian party... THe problem most people have with it is that they don't believe any of this stuff would ever happen.

I was walking back to my office with my newly acquired super burrito in hand when this jackass asks me to give $5 to him to promote "peace in the middle east" or some shit. I told him i wasn't interested and then he yelled at me that I needed to go fight in Iraq then. I yelled back "That's a great way to get people to pay" and laughed. wtf?! At least the greenpeace people let you keep walking. This guy thinks you have to either donate or fight. How about the "stay out of the middle east business" option?

It's gearExpress.com. Ordered a 10.3 Edelweiss 60m dry for $114 on Monday (labor day). Received it on the following monday.

d00d. no wonder you have so many tickets. Maybe they would've grabbed somebody else. At least make it take longer to pick you up. That saves the rest of us.
