That's way better than the way that I did it. I basically just used a wakeboard with a regular rope and handle tied off to a big tree/rock/whatever. The riding was great. But the real terror was when you quit or fell. Riding through a rapid with a board strapped to your feet and no lifejacket was an exercise in panic.

Sounds like the info I got was bogus.

Absolute hearsay, but: Heads up. I have a buddy that just moved here from Hawaii and has found out that most dealerships won't take in a car in trade if it came from the islands. Not just rust (doesn't matter brand, they all rust there), but the roaches breed in them and are very difficult to get rid of. I think that I called on that same truck last week, and my friend said to run away if it was from there.

You guys are all wrong! You should rent. Then you can have extra cash every month. Buying a house is too expensive. BTW, if you are looking for a small studio, I have one of my apartments coming open in North Bend for rent in Sept.

King5.com claims to have live video of the rescue op. My machine won't play it, but yours might.

Naw.. I'm waaaay too lazy for that kind of verification... I saw the stuff and then read Greg's post. It seemed to be close to the description.

Well obviously that's the proof we needed. Dan - style. Get over it. I would suggest that you are wrong and it is ultimately ridiculous that you are ascribing bad motives to people you don't even know, just because you don't like how they set a route. -
I'm going up to Whistler for a weekend vaca with the family and wouldn't mind sneaking in a few routes. Probably just a bit of sport cragging, but I've never climbed up there at all. Should I bring trad gear? Any recommended areas/routes? Should I bring more gear or are there some fun sport routes? Appreciate any useful input.

Took a couple of friends for an overnight hike/camp trip this weekend and parked at the Teneriffe Road/Trail head. When we came back yesterday, my Yakima Mega Warrior cargo rack was gone off of the top of my car. First suspects were two hiker at the trailhead that we talked to. This sucks! I actually used that all the time. Its a long-shot, but if you see anyone trying to sell one or someone that newly "acquired" a used one, please let me know. And if you took it, no questions asked if you return it. If I see it (it is marked, I will recognize it), do not be surprised if you accidently suffer some serious vehicle damage when I recover it.

That sucks... I've only ever had good experiences at Les Schwab, but it sounds like they owe you big time.

This is confusing. Did another stud break on your way home? Were they supposed to know that another one would break? Or did they leave a broken one in the drum?

How did you get started with the Yoga? Resources? I'm interested, but know nothing about it.

I love this stuff... Classic CC.com debate.

When I drove up there the other day, it was pretty clean. When I drove back out a few hours later, there was a huge pile of freshly dumped trash about 2 miles from the main road. Idiots.

Any way to get some captions to tell us the locations of the pics??

I used to think that it wasn't that big of deal either Lummox. Then I met a guy in Mexico who "used to" climb. Turns out he took a fall, a backclip came undone and he grounded from 45 ft. He was blind and paralyzed for 6 months and then just blind for another 6. I never let a backclip go anymore.

I'm really just going off his (Garth's) website...

Hasn't he been saying that since at least October? Sounds like there is some issues with the publisher???

I know of the shack in question on Si (as does probably anyone that has gone up to Tenneriffe) and I have spoke with the owner there in the past. There is no running water or electricity (hence the rain barrels and diesel). He's a nice enough guy and says that he owns the property and that there's a lot of private property on the backside of Mt Si. It's just a vacation/hunting cabin for him. I guess that doesn't mean it's not a meth lab, but it's a pretty big conclusion to jump to. If you're a redneck with an old cabin in the woods - watch out - you're about to get raided.

"There's a ton of boulders near north pillar of mt si. Have it up." Is there any public land over there? Are you talking about in the Moon Valley Rd area?

Wopper, There is no difference. That was my point. This is a marketing/sales gimmick. Although there are a few low-dollar gear items there, this is a gimmick that is not going to help someone get started in the alpine. Buyer beware. If they can sell it to someone, good for them, they can sell gimmicks well.

can you please show me the $100 worth of Alpine Starter gear in that photo? They are selling swag to rich wanna-be climbers that don't know better, not gear.
