  1. Obsession with ... renegade muralists?

  3. So, it seems like they must have taken this into account in their choice/design of polymers, but wouldn't the shit just shear right out of the placement? Sketch-o concept. The Doctor certainly wouldn't be jumping at the chance to take whips on plastic bolts, anyway.
  4. Blasphemous heathen. Careful you don't get a smiting!
  5. Nope. The Doctor has ventured 'round to The Face of the Monkey and various other crags on the back side o' Smith, and out to the Upper Gorge, but ne'er to the many satellites of Smith. Not many bolts out there, you see. The Doctor had his eye on The Product for a while, which is out that way, but some friends recently tried it, and reported that it was wicked hard for the grade, and that it passed through a couple bands of highly suspect rock known as "choss." Thus, the Doctor will now probably not venture out there any time soon.
  6. Wearing GOOGLES?
  7. Your best bet, Mr. Rick, would be the Portland Rock Gym, unless you live closer to Beaverton.
  8. Public Service Announcement from the friendly folks at AmazingCo, Inc. ATTENTION: For the last time, the rock at Smith is welded tuff or simply "tuff," and not, as so many of you seem intent on calling it "tuft," which would be a small clump of hair, fur, or feathers, as one might find on Trask's bedpost. Thank you, and have a pleasant day!
  9. Cooper! Give that money back, you fuckin' scoundrel!
  10. It wasn't a master key; they had figured out some way to use the keyless entry system. It was a master keyless ... thingy.
  11. Jon - Check's in the mail! - DFA
  12. ATTENTION: Dr. Flash Amazing would like to remind everyone that this is a strictly polite thread. If you would like to start a rude discussion or start your own polite discussion and then thread-drift it into rudeness, that would be nice. Please, however, respect the polite and thus not-at-risk-of-being-closed nature of this thread. Thank you, Dr. Flash "Can't we all just get along?" Amazing
  13. ATTENTION: Dr. Flash Amazing would like to remind everyone that this is a strictly nonpolitical thread. If you would like to start a political discussion or start your own nonpolitical discussion and then thread-drift it into politics, that would be nice. Please, however, respect the nonpolitical and thus not-at-risk-of-being-closed nature of this thread. Thank you, Dr. Flash "Apolitical" Amazing
  14. Greg, The rock hardness is part of the issue. In the case of the tuff at Smith, it's soft enough that bolts that get dogged on a whole lot (i.e. the 2nd bolt on Chain, or all the bolts on Churning) do eventually loosen up. Most of the time, it's not an issue, but there are some places, like those listed, where it is. Thus, glue-ins are a nice replacement alternative, especially if the bolt has been moved a couple times already, as was the case on Churning, apparently, which now sports the most bomber glue-in job ever created. Truly amazing bomberization job.
  15. Ehhh, the board's buggering up again.
  16. Given their usual condition, the Doctor would have to guess "loose." Although some potential good Samaritan was going to replace the second bolt, which is usually the loosest. Hopefully they used a nice 1/2" x 4" glue-in.
  17. So, who would care to discuss something nonpolitical without being mean to anyone else?
  18. Dear God, Please make half of the crag out of stellar granite with splitter, gear-eating hand and finger cracks of varying difficulties, so the traddies can get some too. Thank you, Dr. Flash Amazing
  19. Dru's a burdensome illegal immigrant to our prosperous American bulletin board. The only solution here is to kill Dru.
  20. Greg, If they came here legally, they'd still be dirt-poor and sending their kids to school, plus using all the social services you mention. And they ARE doing a lot of the work in this country that no one else wants to do.

I could have free health care from my parents but I use the health care from my work, instead. I don't have to pay for this except for deductables and stuff but it isn't free because i work for it. It is free; you're not paying for it. You may have to work for it, but you're not paying out of pocket, aside from your deductibles.
  22. Allison, Start raising hell with your company. Get all your co-workers to chip in with their stories of shitty health care experiences because of the HMO, and keep bugging management to switch. You know, union-style.

  24. Come on, freeclimb. You'd change your tune if you had seen their new soft shells and alpine packs for '03!
  25. "... force people to have health care ..." Greg, Dr. Flash Amazing will buy you a damn beer next time he's in the Seattle area if you can find him one person who honestly wouldn't take effective free health care if it was given to them.
