  1. Just tryin' to get y'all to look at things differently. The problem on the hill is gaping and/or inconsiderate idiots. When you say "oh, those snowboarders suck blah blah blah," it's pretty narrow-minded, and an affront to those of us who prefer to carry great speed down the hill and not stop until the lift lines demand that we do so.
  2. The idea, though, Traskasaurus (ooohhh, a cute pet name!), is that these people would in fact be defending against something that threatened what they value. A preemptive strike, if you will, not unlike killing Saddam before he kills us.
  3. Hahahahahaha! So, you think it's wrong for people to be coerced into not buying an SUV, which makes other people feel unsafe. So, your suggestion to those people is to buy a car that they would not otherwise buy so that other people can drive their SUV's and not smash people? So you're fine with just passing the coersion buck down the line, is that correct? Much hilarity ensues.
  4. Hmm ... can't play the piano. Sorry.
  5. Whatever, you goobs. The new anti-SUV ads sound pretty funny, the way they're parodying those insipid anti-drug ads. W/r/t M-goat saying that they should say what they mean, fuck that, they're drawing attention to the issue they want attention drawn to, accomplishing the same end. Anyone read the bit about Craig Rosebraugh in this week's Willamette Week? He's talking about the viability of violence as a form of protest, and wondering if nonviolence is really the way to go. Apparently some "cell" of the ELF has also issued a statement that they'll be sending their message with the gun, if need be, to get their point across. Interesting idea, although the Doctor still feels that murder is not a good thing to do. Whaddayou gun-toters think about this? Given that you feel that it's right to defend what you hold dear with lethal weaponry, and given your support of the USA's use of killing to further our ends?
  6. "you know, it doesn't make a difference to me every day I do the same old thing so why should I have to be clea-ea-ean? Those dreaded Wednesdays and Saturdays also known as shower day-ayyyys I hate them!" - NOFX, 'Shower Days'
  7. Word is he's also a bleedin' heart envir'nmentalist liberal. Keep an eye on him or he'll spike your trees so he can't cut them down!
  8. Careful, Trask. Word on the street is that Brand X is kind of a shady operation. 'Specially the owner; what's that fella's name? Something White or some such ...
  9. True indeed! We keep washing our hands with antibacterial soap, and feeding cattle enough antibiotics to choke a, um, horse, and then we totally lose our shit when scientists start discovering resistant microbes and people die from staph infections that won't respond to Penicillin. Doy. There was an article about Yvon Chouinard in Outside about six months ago, and he was saying he absolutely forbade his kids to wash their hands after using the bathroom, playing, or whatever. Seems logical to DFA; keep that immune system honed. There was an article on MSN, too, about a study that concluded that kids who didn't scrub their little mitts clean all the time had healthier immune systems. Piss on your hands for better health!
  10. Don't be coy, Trask; we all know you've a passion for hefty dames.
  11. Trask: not always an idiot! Strong work, son!
  12. Yeah, ALL snowboarders are dicks, because they're snowboarders. Fuck, this has gotta be the dumbest attitude ever. As Dr. Flash Amazing recalls, all types of idiots park themselves all over the place, despite what happens to be strapped to their feet. Gaper snowboarders sitting at the top of good kickers, snowplowing gumby skiers capriciously veering from side to side, telemarkers cutting wide turns across the runs. Whatever, tools.
  13. Them mint Clif Bars with the frosting, of course, and some kind of fancy chocolate bar (or a Newman's Own at the very least) for "sending chocolate," as a reward for sending. Or as consolation for not sending, depending on how things go.
  14. Ha ha! George Bush is a land-raping redneck devil guy!
  15. DFA chops all gear, and bolts all cracks. Scandalous!
  16. Spiderman ! ZZ is excellent, although the crux pitch is well over the Doctor's head at this point. Fun route, though. It's funny, if the mobs of people lounging at the base of Morning Glory knew how much loose crap was up there on ZZ, they might not hang out so close to the base!
  17. This business of climbers dying; does it not leave you feeling a little fucked up and weird inside? Thinking about being dead, about how easily it could have been any one of us, just gone like that? At least he passed doing what he loved. A far greater bummer, it would seem, to die in a car crash or what have you, at least when viewed through eyes yet six feet above ground, eyes looking for some grain of comfort, of reassurance that maybe death might be not so bad. Man ...
  18. LEAVE SMITH?!! PREPOSTEROUS! And you have surmised or inferred correctly; Dr. Flash Amazing is no trad virgin. But it's been many moons since DFA sunk his nuts in a nice slot (jeez, no wonder you trad monkeys are all pervs), and there's no time like the now to polish up them skillz. Of course, it doesn't hurt that the Doctor will have full use of a friend's rack while said friend is off gallivanting about Europe for a few months. Project: Karate Crack, perhaps, after a bit of time on the single-digit cruisers to remember how a cam works? But the real project will be teaching Mrs. DFA to trust and place gear, and maybe do some casual multi-pitch stuff.
  19. Trask, "there's something odd about you, what it is I couldn't say, you're just pretty in a pretty sort of way"
  20. Trask, that's totally you, isn't it? 'Cause in all seriousness, it fits the Doctor's mental image of you perfectly.
  21. DFA will give the tendon-tweaking number-chasing routine a break for a while and do some -- are you sitting down? Good. -- trad climbing.
  22. Um, Trask, isn't that exactly what they do with protesters? But you're right, in any case, as the right to peaceably assemble is stupid and dumb. More guns.
  23. Here, they'll be happy to help.
  24. Good work! It's a classic line, and deceptively difficult at that. Truly a proud tick.
  25. Didn't take long for you to fall right off the wagon and back into the gutter, now did it? Perhaps you need to talk to SAA.
