    I've Been Out-4WD'd

Yup, exactly, which is why a close look at the H2 reveals that all they was raise the body up a bunch and leave the chassis the same. The result it a top heavy POS with no more ground clearance than your average small or mid size SUV.

yes, trask, I agree, that is why I was asking. The H2 isn't even a hummer. It doesn't share any parts with it AFAIK. It's basically a suburban (which is a fairly sub-par off road vehicle), live rear axle and all, with a different top thrown on. It's pathetic.
  3. Yes, he was BSing or has a bad memory. Me and a climbing partner did the trip from banff back to Seattle last year traveling in the middle of the night (read: no traffic) with heavy amounts of speeding. It took us a shade over 9 hours. There were large sections of I-90 through eastern WA where we going fast enough to get you arrested. 9 hours with minimal speeding is BS.

    Hummer or H2?
  5. It's sad that the paper (or the authority for that matter) couldn't have left out the unescessary "extreme sports" comment. It would have been more than sufficient to mention that he was an experienced kayaker, which is all that mattered in this case.
  6. Wow, how horrible. I just know Ben's name from reading some of the trip reports him and his friends put together. They were always great reads and interesting. What awful news. Does anybody know how old Ben was? I got the impression he was pretty young.
  7. If you spent litererally *half* the time driving north that you do complaining about being in portland, you'd have already climbed 20 pitches of ice this year.

    Semi Trucks

http://www.cascadeclimbers.com/plab/showphoto.php?photo=2587&papass=&sort=1&thecat= I think semi truck driver's should have their commercial license revoke for passing THREE ABREAST. Just because you can climb the hill to the pass at 33 mph instead of the other truck which can only climb it at 32 mph does NOT give you the right to block the entire freeway! Semis suck! Happy friday all!
  9. OK, I should have clarified. I was wondering if anybody *here* had done it, or could share personal experience. I assumed it had been done, and I certainly didn't think I was going to go out and try to be the first person to do it in a day and chest beat about it. Basically I am interested in doing the mountian, but can't spare 5, or even 3 days right now. Doing it in 2 seems dumb, because I think the lighter weight of doing it in 1 day would more than make up for just a single extra day.
  10. Anybody done it?
  11. I've just ended up leaving the fangs on. Fuck it if somebody thinks having leashes plus the fangs is cheating...I'd rather not get my pinkies bashed up.
  12. Alpine gear is definitely a lot more "fun" to ski harder terrain in, since that is what it is designed for. The extra weight doesnt' matter if the lift is hauling you up. I took my AT gear to the lifts several times to get used to it, and it works fine as long as you realize it's limitations. Landing a jump, for example, on my tourlite bindings didn't work so well.
  13. I have vipers and have really liked them. I haven't noticed the shaft flexy, but I'm a weak climber so who knows. I find the grips good for smaller hands.
  14. technically I think it is cascade CONCRETE, and sierra CEMENT.
  15. Skiing in Utah is probably great, but damn, that state has a lot of other drawbacks!! I'll take my WA skiing and full strength liquor please!
  16. Watch it, I'm sure fairweather is a huge Newt Gingrich fan.
  17. Pretty cold, eh?
  18. Hey man, I was gonna call you back last night but it got late. You should see it here, if you are willing to do an approach, there is lots of ice in WA right now. Pretty neat. Brrr...it's cold in the hills too!
  19. Is the grand CO loather thinking of the PRB? PRB? Yeah, I might have to suck it up. CO looks great compared to SoCal!
  20. That is the most disgusting hot spring I have ever seen. The color and consistency of diarrhea, terrible smell, and last time I was there a small dead frog was bobbing around in the "water". Good riddance. Amen. That thing is pretty damn sick. It wouldn't be as bad if the water was at least hot. As it is, not only is it sick, but it's just warm.
  21. I would convert from WMA to MP3 (or vice versa) as you'll end up losing a good bit of quality. If you can get the original source again, any of the CD-ripping MP3 programs people have listed will work. Also, why bother? WMA is a better format for the filesize anyway.
  22. I'd also like comments on the north face breakwind.
  23. Milosh, my old friend, welcome back! It has been too long. Please tell me about your adventures I missed while you were absent.
  24. What about CO? I may go there to visit schools, and I'd definitely want to ski too!
  25. Damn...that is just cool.
