  1. I do! But one of my classes is a self study and I need to go in and take a test later. Weather seems to be improving late in weekend and decent on monday. Skip monday and come do a tour with me!
  2. Holy crap, this is totally sweet. I admit that having TOPO for washington is still nice, cause it's a very user friendly program, but this is awesome for getting my topos for anywhere else.
  3. HAHA, yeah, we were joking about that...that it was some "hardcore" heli-lifted extreme skier.
  4. The post about the blackhawk reminded me of this. Last thursday when Sky and I skied buckner, we had a heli fly up the boston glacier and zoom by us by only a few hundred feet then come back and hover for a few seconds directly above us a few hundred feet. WTF? He then proceeded to fly over to the part of the boston glacier near forbidden and disappear into the drainage beneath before returning a few minutes later and flying out the skagit queen drainage. Any clue what this was about? It looked private; definitely not a military copter.
  5. OK, this wasn't supposed to go in the Alaska forum. I am reposting elsewhere. Mods: feel free to delete.

    My REI wish list

If you present an out of state driver's license you can be exempt from sales tax. I know a ton of people that do that here.
  7. "and the secretary of state's office said safeguards were in place to prevent targeting the wrong people. " Yeah, just like last time! What were the safeguards again? Oh yeah, that's right, if you're black then you are probably a felon, so we'll remove you...
  8. Oh yeah, all those damn liberals, they are the next step before terrorists! Let us remember the worst american-commited terrorist attack on american soil was one timothy mcveigh, a far right racist radical.

  10. $55/month. That's a Camalot per month. TV sucks. I refuse to pay for that crap to be piped into my home. - a s s m * n k e y I split it with 2 roommates, and ours is $45 a month I think. $15 is still a lot, but there are definitely some shows I like.
  11. you dumshit. cant spell for hell. they are called 'cicadas' and they only emerge like every 17 years. they are greasy as a castro hustler though.
  12. Simply because there is a market doesn't mean you have to buy from every vendor blindly. The greater number of reserves total, the less an impact on a single reserve will effect the entire market. Meaning fighting in Iraq or Saudi Arabia or whatever to maintain stability means less if they represent 25% of the market instead of 75%.
  13. I spent a night at upper lyman lake about 100 feet away from the the lyman glacier where it calves into the lake. All fuckin night it sounded like I was sleeping somewhere in bosnia. I swear every 5 minutes something broke off. The next day (which was warm) I didn't see a single thing fall.
  14. We did a report in school about the emergence of the caspian see nations (former USSR states) and their possibility for huge oil reserves. While I would certainly like to see us off oil ASAP, I think it would be great if, in the mean time, we could greatly reduce our dependence on the middle east. It would be truly awesome if we could move all our partnerships to the former USSR states, which would not only get their economies rolling but let us get out of the middle east.
  15. I was never really a fan of that show, but I have to say if I was I would be quite disappointed in that finale. Nothing interesting at all...just a typical end where they all end up happy together. The best show on TV is clearly "The West Wing" If it weren't for that I think I'd cancel my cable and save the money.

    McCain

Good for him. McCain rules. Rumsfield should be canned. I have to disagree with you about Colin tho. I really respected the guy until I've seen him get walked all over by Bush and Cheney for the past 3 years. He's principled but I think he needs to stand up and say what we all know he thinks; that this administration sucks. It's obviously the reason he has quietly told them he won't be returning for another flogging.
  17. As much as it would hurt folks, myself included, I would love to see $5/gallon gas. As Alasdair said, it would seriously hurt the SUV market and actually get people thinking about a more intelligent way to move people around cities. The really lame thing is gas would cost this much more if it wasn't for heavy government subsidies for the oil comapnies to promote "research and development"
  18. You could definitely go in via buck creek pass via trinity, but it's still a lot longer than the suiattle river trail. What is supposed to be wrong with it? Is it messed up enough that travel on it would be unreasonable?
  19. The average surface temperatures have been rising *faster* than any point in history...that is the prevailing scientific theory at least. Why is it so hard for you to accept the fact that the majority of scientific thinking points to some amount of human influence? Would you be a pinko liberal communist if you believed this?
  20. The white chuck river road is ripped up, but the suittale river road is fine as far as I've heard. I'm sure beck will have fun bragging about his secret route over ______ pass, but I can tell you that it's not that far. 10 miles on the basically flat suiattle river trail, then whatever it is up gamma creek or gamma ridge.
  21. I, too, have been really happy with backcountrygear.com. I've only ever ordered over the internet from them, but it was fast and easy and they were very helpful when I had a small sizing problem.
  22. Yo. I'm looking to get a tarp shelter type thingy for 2 people. I know the betamid and integral designs silshelter are both designed for 2. Im also considering a megamid for it's extra space and ability to hold 3 or 4 if needbe. I'd like to hear opinions from megamid/megalight owners. Are they useable in cruddy weather? Can they be used in winter weather that isn't super stormy? How is setup, stability, and all that? thanks, -josh
  23. That sounds like fun. I'll volunteer to be somebody's kid if we get to go! I'll sit in the back seat of the station wagon. (I just wanted to use that thing, whatever it is)
  24. stinky, don't be silly, how are cheney's chronies going to profit if halliburton doesn't get the contract to supply it's own overpaid truck drivers?
