it's true it adds weight, but I figurd even if I shot the entire load (hehehe) of the seam sealer on the inside of the tent it would only add 1.5oz.

Ahh, ok, at the very high elevations...I can see that. Plenty of stuff can be done lower down, esp. considering most of the range is below those elevations. :-) Good points are being made here...one of my scariest "near misses" was in the spring...all it took was a little insolation to get shit moving like hookers on aurora.

So, besides just making it up, where do you get your figure of 18" from!?! If you'd bother to look at any of the telemetry sites, you'd see that most of them have stayed the same or gone down in the past several days.

I think the super lightweight and waterproofness of the silnylon make up for the sliperyness. What about adding "dots" of the silicone sealent (quite sticky) to the floor every 12" or something? That might be enough so you could at least keep pads from slipping all over the floor.

Boring Oregon Volcanoes Suck. The North Cascades do not. End of discussion.

5 points for whoever can identify what the "YEEAAHHGG!!!" is in reference to.

Ironically, you could practically consider Nixon "liberal" compared to the trash the republican party has become.

All the info I found on it says 14 to 15oz. Where did you see 24oz??

Well, I certainly would side the other way in terms of their intelligence, but obviously it's nothing neither of us will ever know about either of them. Interesting thing about his wife...my dad went to Kerry's speech last night and this morning. Apparently he was very taken with the speech his wife made. He thought she was impressively direct, intelligent and a great speaker. Definitely in contrast to Laura Bush, who seems to be nothing much good or bad. I will admit, however, that the Bushes make a perfect couple...he's guilty of drunk driving and her of vehicular manslaughter...it's a match made in heaven

Wow, that Theta SL is a sweet looking coat. I dont think they made that when I got my cirrus.

Please, we don't claim Ralph. In fact, most democrats hate Ralph even more now considering he is pretty much *the* reason Gore lost. Also, how can you honestly say Kerry is a moron and Bush is not!? I realize you don't agree with him on anything, but he is certainly the more intelligent of the two. P.S. Did anybody see him speak last night or this morning in Seattle?

That's a good question...what do people consider the top if they are going for speed? I've climbed the haystack a few times but I dont recall the last time I've climbed it when I am just going up there for excercise.

I honestly believe a kerry/mccain ticket would make this election an absolute landslide. I cna't see it happening tho, with distinct differences in some important social issues, etc. I'm still wondering if cheney will be dumped last minute. I think he's a negative for bush if anything.

Thanks for the post. I didn't see Gore's speech at all. He made some valid comments, but I guess the way it was presented wasn't so hot. But he doesn't have mental defects, give me a break. I'm not sure yelling during a speech makes you crazy.

The Arcteryx Sirrus SL is *the* lightweight hardshell. I have been totally impressed wtih this thing. I got rid of my precip because it didn't breath well enough at all. Also, Pro Mountain Sports has a very nice montbell hardshell. It's worth a look. Very high on features and low on weight. It looked like a very quality piece.

Look for a quality lens and large size CCD over megapixels. Most of the small point and shoot 5mp cameras will take a worse pic than a 3mp camera with a good size lens and larger CCD. You'll get a lot less in terms of chromatic abarations, color blending, etc. Not to mention that the larger lens is going to be better for photography in general in terms of letting more light in. I've always had good luck with Olympus and Nikon. Canons also seem to be very nice. I think my 1,2,3 would be Nikon, Olympus, and Canon for digital. I'd personally stay away from Sony but that is just me...

They can't be too happy and afrid he is going to "alienate" voters...after all he got quite a few more votes than the shitbag president last time around.

I ordered the fabric so hopefully it will be here in a few days. My project is to create a silnylon version of the megamid floor. I can't justify hauling the heaving floor when I got the lightweight canopy, so I'll try my luck on creating my own. Well, actually, my mom will probably do the sewing, but I'll help cut, etc. I'll post some pics and a writeup assuming all goes well. I'm hoping it won't be a terribly hard project because it's all big right angle cuts...nothing much precision.

Dru, that is exactly the case in Oregon. The doctor only provides. The patient administers. I suggest some of you naysayers go rent a copy of the movie Wit, and after watching it in its entirety see if you feel about the subject the same way you do now. Unless you have been confronted with a slow and extremely painful death, you might not know what to think on the subject. I've had to think a lot about this since my wife was diagnosed with terminal cancer four years ago. I watched both my grandma and grandpa (both unfortunately young) die this way. It was extremely sad. catbird, I'm sorry to hear about your wife, that is really tough.

The right wing approach to this is about as stupid as their approach to abortion vs. the death penalty. I will at least give the catholic church credit on one thing (though they are fucked up on everything else) they are consistent. They say no abortion, no death penalty. The right wing conveniently defends the life of an embryo that most likely has no sentient (sp?) thought but denies the life of a murderer. I dont like murderers and more than the next guy, but I dont want to live in a society that sanctions state sponsered killing. Another hypocrisy...we dont allow assasinations of foreign leaders who could possibly have killed millions, but we do allow the execution of a murderer who is one of our own citizens. It all just doesn't add up.

A titanium thong? Hmm...not so sure about that. Maybe I should make my GF a silnylon thong? haha
-
Yup! Thru-hiker is where I found it cheap. Great store! Now I am trying to think of something I can make out of titanium

I called seattle fabrics and they sell the 1.3oz for $11.50 a yard. I found the 1.1oz online for only $5.25 so that seems like the way to go.

Does anyone know where I could go about getting sil-nylon fabric in large sheets?
