Well, my well laid plans for this week were most gloriously fucked over by a long line of things I should probably go and add to that peeve thread. Anyway, I have tomorrow off and need to be at my parents on bainbridge island early saturday so I was thinking of doing something in the Olympics. I dont know the area at all, can somebody recommend something? The brothers looked cool, and like a pretty reasonable day trip. I've done Ellinor and Washington and that is about it.

What misconception is this? I've seen the gun I am referring to...it basically looks like a cross between a tommy-gun and a shotgun. I'm just not clear what useful purpose this serves besides killing a lot of people in a short amount of time.

Are you kidding me!? More than 1 shot is great if you are looking to kill a bunch of your coworkers or engage in a school shotting. You can take a whole crowd out pretty easily; hence the name street sweeper.

I can certainly see the logic in carrying a rifle in grizzly country. That is a lot different than toting on around in the cascades. I guess it's about the chances...I am much more likely to get struck by some shitass seattle driver than attacked by an angry cougar that I can't deal with in any way other than a gun. I have a question for greg et all...where should the line be drawn? The NRA doesn't want any gun restriction because they see any regulation as the beginning of the end. Let's say I am fine with people carrying handguns...where does stuff like military machine guns and 12-shot "streetsweeper" shotguns come in? It seem at some point you have to draw a line. Should I be able to arm myself with an RPG? If I get assaulted by a group of 10 people with guns, I think the only reasonable way to defend myself would be to take them all out at once with an RPG. I'm legitimately looking for opinions.

Greg, I've actually tried to keep my dislike for guns out of this thread. My only beef was with some dude blowing a way a dog owner cause his dogs got off leash and got mean to him. Gun or not, you don't go killing people for that. I think the self defense argument is bullshit. He could have just as easily shot the dogs without shooting the man. My opinion is the "self-defense" finding is easy and lazy for the cops as it doesn't require much more work. The fact that the guy was licensed to carry or not is irrelevant. You just dont go blowing people away when you feel the least bit threatened.
