The two bags I use both lack a very water resistant shell. I have never had a problem except for once, and that was my fault...bivying with a non-closeable bivy in a snowstorm was just stupid. Unless you plan on bivying in crappy conditions a lot I personally dont think the heavier shell is worth the weight or money on a lightweight bag. If you can't prevent spilling stuff on yourself inside the tent then...well...learn

There is something called sil-net which is specifically for silnylon. You'll want to use that, not regular seam grip. There is some sort of tri-fold seam that is suppose to be the way to go for equipment, but I still sealed all my seems anyway. With the amount of rain a pissed off cascades storm can dump I figured I wouldn't want to find out the seams leak in the middle of the deluge.

That sounds pretty cool. What types of lizards? Do you keep them as pets or just check them out?

OK, you know you need to get out...after 10 days of shit weather, we are going to have three days of good weather starting tomorrow then followed by yet more shitty weather. I'm planning on doing a long ski traverse...lotsa milage, lotsa elevation. I've got ideas I'm pretty pumped on, but willing to take other suggestions.

I 2nd east ridge direct. Very fun climbing. Just be prepared to spend longer than you would think for 400vf of climbing. With all the gendarmes you climb more than you would think. Go down the west ridge if you want to do a mountain tour, otherwise the east ridge ledges decent is not as bad as everybody says, just be careful! A slip would certainly suck. I'd watch out for it with snow, however. I imagine it would be sketchorama.

Hopefully I'll have one on friday night or saturday. FINALLY! three days of decent weather. It's turning to crap again after that so I am not missing out on this.

LOL. sounds like fun. Was it the kind of hail that dented cars and shit? I've seen that on various "real video" shows on TV but never witnessed it. Aside from the damage, I always thought it would be cool to witness from a safe distance.

He didn't fire the warning shot at the guy... once again, you have failed to read the article josh... Scott, I wasn't referring to the article, I was directly responding to your post, ya idiot.
-
Yeah, and firing "warning shot" at people for no reason is also illegal. Last time I checked you can't just go capping off shots as you see fit. I'd leave the gun rights argument out of this one...I think the issue is the "self defense" argument is bullshit. Whether the guy was a legal gun owner or a thug carrying illegally doesn't matter to me...what matters is he shot somebody cause his dogs got out of control on a hike. I hate it when people's fucking dogs run up to me in the wilderness. I'm there for a wilderness experience and frankly would not run into others, let alone have their dogs come jump on me. Despite my dislike for this I hardly feel like I can blow away the dogs or the owner.

huh?

I'm not sure what some guy shooting another one unjustifiably has anything to do with gun control. Shooing some guy cause his dogs go raging is not a justifiable murder. Aruging that you should be able to shoot somebody for this along with aruging pro-gun stance just makes your motives look pretty perverse.

Fat Teddy, you are a fucking idiot. How the hell do you know what happened? Last time I checked violation of a leash law doesn't get the self-administered death penalty.
-
Is price an option? Marmot Helium is awesome, but quite expensive.

If my deranged uncle goes and kills a bunch of people, I'd rather not be targeted, thank you. But I will concede that I'm sure a lot of these people's familys are likeminded and I'd rather see their spawn dead than alive to avenge their father's death or something.

Check out the link to the Islam website they include. Lots of great answers to the questions I've always had such as "will I go to hell if I dont become Muslim?" The answer is yes by the way.

If somebody went further east this weekend and knows how much fell over there I would love to hear. I was thinking specific in the entiat and chelan mountains. Are they far enough east that they probably wouldn't have received the brunt of this storm? -josh

Scientology...what a load of shit. I wonder if Cruise or Travolta or any other of those whackos has bothered to talk to anybody who's life has been dramitcally improved by those two sciences; both through drugs and traditional counseling?!?

I would think any DWR product for recoating goretex, etc. would probably be your best bet.

You must be kidding. I swear I remember picking some up in banff last year to make PB&Js for ice climbing...??

Very true, the movie has about as much reality as the crap the bush-cheney campaign kicks out. If the movie somehow sways enough people to swing the vote against bush, then it'll be one of the best movies ever released, IMHO
-
yeah, the political uproar is idiotic. It's no different that the volcano ones wiping out LA or whatever. I'm not sure how it would alienate swing voters away from kerry. If anybody is dumb enough to vote based on a hollywood disaster movie...well...

I got a first hand report from my friend who was up guiding on shuksan this weekend. They were camped somewhere midway up the sulfide glacier (so about 7k I would guess) and he said they had got 14" of new when they packed up to leave. FW, have you tried to find any info on what fell on the east side of the crest? I have plans for mon/tues a bit further east and I'm wondering if they got any significant dumpage.
