    Amuse me.

'creature' would be much more befitting of someone who routinely makes fun of human misery ....

  5. no news is good news?
  6. j_b

    Interesting

whatever FS, one of the most instrumental figure in Washington with respect to the iraq war tells you it was about the oil and suddenly you dismiss him as being the opinion of a single person. what will you come up with next????
  7. j_b

    Interesting

really? i thought bush said iraq could deploy and hit us with their chemical arsenal within 45minutes i guess it's just all too complicated for us common folks
  8. j_b

    Interesting

no!!!!! he could not have said that we went to iraq because of the oil!!!!!he could not be this stupid!!!!!!
  9. j_b

    Interesting

now an old perspective and the major reason omitted in Friedman's piece Wolfowitz: Iraq war was about oil
  10. sad to hear the tragic news. can you find more info about adrian?
  11. what about the Grand Capucin in Cham (actually closer to Courmayeur) http://www.mountainarea.com/capucin/main.html http://perso.clubinternet.fr/ploum2/montagne/grandcapucin/grandcapucin.htm 15-20 pitches (mandatory 5.10) on some of the best granite i ever saw. you could go up the italian tram (to torino hut), set up camp on the glacier du geant and climb a bunch of lines at mt. blanc du tacul (gervasutti pillar, chere couloir, tour ronde, and grand cap of course) http://www.nosiesta.net/mbdutacul.htm http://www.mountainarea.com/tacul/main.html
  12. what kind of climbing do you want to do?
  13. you are right that there has always been weirdos who declare any program (social or not) as being socialist but by those standards veteran benefits and filling potholes would fit the bill as well. it's totally ludicrous. anything that fairweather said about h.clinton is unsubstantiated.
  14. humor, my ass! this shows you don't even have the courage to stand by what you write (which i completely understand since it is often totally stupid). you should drop the cold war rhetoric it makes you look either paranoiac or retarded (your choice)
  15. although it should be obvious to everyone (including you), my neanderthal comment was directed at the following kind of intervention (yours by the way): i can't describe how much i despise unwarranted, disparaging attacks like the above. how do you want me to describe it? as a well thought out, well supported, fair argument? considering how much hate for women with power exudes from it, i think that 'neanderthal' is pretty accurate. i stand by it. what's suddenly stopping you? isn't it what pretty much every single post of yours is about? i mean to accuse everyone who disagrees with you of being a traitor, socialist, homo and what not?
  16. lots of good suggestions. bear has the best climbing though (imo of course).

    check it out

  18. you have to grant them something though: they have become experts at slinging mud (they got quite a bit of practice during the 2 clinton terms) however they must be getting desperate to dig a 2 year old story to continue smearing h.clinton. bashing a strong woman with character always seems appealing to neanderthals.

    Earthquake!

why? did you climb it ~9000 years ago?
  20. personally i find the amount of money involved totally obscene but no more so than say lebron james getting an $80million shoe contract before playing a single nba game (and look at it this way, she is not making money because of concurrent positions in federal policy making offices and the oil/military industries, which, imo, is much more troubling). i also find the continuous smear campaign on the clintons getting beyond very old. they have been the most investigated couple in american politics (at the expense of much taxpayer's money) and nothing was ever found to substantiate allegations of improprieties (well besides him getting a blow on the job). perhaps, someday, fairweather will provide argumentation for his diatribes but i am not holding my breath. i also think hillary clinton would probably make a pretty decent president.
  21. i guess nobody else thought this was a thought provoking quote
  22. Arthur Schlesinger takes a different tack on this issue: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/opinion/134840741_schlesinger29.html
  23. it sounds so much like "i work at the mine so that you won't have to". could 'western' climbers be kidding themselves about what motivates them to climb an 8000er?

you could take out a loan. just look at it as an investment, you can put it on your resume and stuff ...
  25. short and interesting perspective on Tensing Norgay http://joongangdaily.joins.com/200305/29/200305292245361539900090809081.html
