  1. oh yeah. yes the sandy is worth doing, but takes a few calories for sure.
  2. The schrund is typical, but new snow has covered up many of the crevasses on the glaciers out there (though weakly, I would guess). Crossing climber's left was quite straightforward but the crack is visible quite far left. Noticed a small crown fracture line all the way around the hogsback up above the schrund. Would have made for an interesting time when that cut loose. For those with Hood plans, South, Sunshine, Reid HW, Leuthold, maybe Eliot HW all appear to be in shape at the moment, and apparently Sandy HW too, good job guys. Some annoying postholing in spots. Breakable crust abounds on the glaciers, and windslab was encountered up high in spots. Now I want to know how someone knew who I was, stepping into a snowcat. Am I that much of a gaper?
  3. I deny all of it! P.S. the west side stuff remains in great shape. There is some funkiness to the snowpack though. This is to the west of the summit: 10" slab Somewhere on the Reid HW, Leuthold down to the right, Yocum in the b.g. el yocum: My lazy partner:
  4. two tooling on that slope? 35° tops! is that a headband? nice work hulkster! those are some short skis...pussy does that cover it? nice picture
  5. wazzat, some outtake from Breakin'? someone needs to tell those fools cotton kills!
  6. nonsense
  7. I already made this claim with 1970's leisure suits. No pix to come, you can thank me with beer.
  8. well I know of one place called "rock mesa" in the Three Sisters that is volcanic, but is the shape of a typical mesa. But I would agree that a mesa is a erosional feature.
  9. I love how the Paris Hilton subject line brought RobBob out of the woodwork.
  10. Yeah! and they had chocolate milk at lunch! is there anyone out of diapers on this board anymore?
  11. that fricken phone call from satan thing at Smith. wtf I always end up on that thing at the beginning of the day. moonshine d., peking, and let's face it always seem to be showing up on the list too. oh and all the routes up at the pleasure palace.
  12. yes, and we all know how tight the mid-mountain bistro market is! what an idiot.
  13. welcome back
  14. I agree with that. A lot of routes at Smith Rock, for example seem graded for one or two moves (excluding the gorge). Tieton frequently seems continuous for the grade (as it probably should be, right?) Also, some of those climbs are just really weird and put you in strange positions, making you think more than you might normally need to. Others are more normal.
  15. Whistler will never compete with the likes of Mt. Hood Meadows after they chairlift the hell out of da Hood. Meadows is and will remain THE destination resort on the entire west coast mofos. Bow down and pay homage to the sickness that is meadows. Expand all you want, meadows will expand more to harvest even more of Hoodie's legendary champagne powder. EXPANSION SUCKS
  16. "mount bachelor" was named after a gay travel tour service. ba-dum ching. was that inappropriate?
  17. and where are the SUV hybrids? Since SUV owners obviously don't care about driving performance I cannot believe these have not been rushed to the market. You get the SUV look that everyone seems to want with at least some sanity under the hood.
  18. The dodge ram with the cummins turbo diesel option actually gets great mileage, probably better than a lot of cars out there. Problem is like all those big trucks with huge wheelbases (f250 comes to mind) is downtown areas. A pretty stupid choice for people spending time in the city. More than once I have seen them trapped trying to make some parking spot work. They also drive like crap with the stiff suspension and leafs in the back (like so many way overpriced SUVs). They would be eaten alive in Europes big cities. The TDI stuff from Volkswagen would seem really popular for the commuting crowd. Dunno why it has not caught on, esp. with the gas prices these days.
