I'm with Thinker, nicely stated! Here, this is a trad ascent, right? Has to be, I don't think sport climbing even existed on Thanksgiving weekend 1976.

That's what I like about being self employed, the freedom to schedule myself for any 60 hours out of the week I want. Employees on the other hand work m-f 8-4:30, with the standard two 15 minute paid breaks and 30 minutes unpaid lunch, 40 hours a week. It's construction, so benefits generally suck across the non-union field, but they do get paid sick leave and three paid holidays (which should bump to four sometime this year).

What he means is you don't get that huge a post count by posting all the information in one post if you can string it out for three for four.

They seem to be 99.95% certain about me. Damn, ambiguity is so much more hip.

Yeah Scott, what you missed is that the whole thing is much smaller than you think.

Hey DFA, nice to see you've come around. You were pretty tepid on the topic of Common Rider last time we discussed 'em and you were unimpressed with the new disc. It's one of those things that grew and grew on me until I lost it, probably in one of these stacks of cd's that litter my house and office. I've had The Ravonettes "Chain Gang Of Love" in heavy rotation of late, though since they're opening for the Strokes in Seattle I fear they may be destined for Fern's too-popular-to-be-cool category. Danish duo with others to fill in, they've got the male-female vocal thing going with a great churning pop sound, and often some kind of wierd noise layered into the background. As an added bit of wierdness, I believe they boast that every song is written in B flat major. I have to thank my local library for having this disc.

You can smoke hash, and you can smoke beef, but you can't smoke corned beef hash.

Porn Star? I'm disappointed, I thought that was Scott in drag.

I think it would be a hoot to put on some wool knickers, red socks, a little white cap, some tricouni nailed boots, a goldline, and a rack of pins and go wander around Smith asking questions.

Dude, doesn't wearing those blinders make you run into things?

Oh, I don't know that we're experiencing a loss of skilled workers yet, just that it might be an interesting (in the chinese proverb sense of the word) possible outcome.

I think it's quite possible that the trend is a much larger force than something that can be changed by just a President. When will emmigration become an issue for the US? People leaving the country to go where the jobs are? The economic tides that generated the huge influxes of immigrants to this country in past centuries could reverse.

Well, you made me curious, and this has been under discussion in Moderatorland, so I went to peruse the Yard Sale and see what's up. On the first page, I noticed only two listings that were for e-bay sales, and they were both hugely flamed and I doubt they worked much as promotions for the sale. I agree it's irritating, the homegrown nature of the Yard Sale is a classic example of how this site offers much more than just a Spray venue, but do you all want more official policy? It's just a question, I'm okay with either banning E-bay listings or insisting that E-bay be mentioned in the subject line, but then again it's not my forum to moderate. Do all you Yard Sale users want more moderators in that forum to clean things out and enforce rules?

I've been doing this for a couple years, it doesn't seem to have slowed the flow though. I did ask at my post office, and they said you can't tape it to a brick anymore, but I could put whatever I want, as long as it's legal, in the envelope. I usually put the application back in too, I don't really care if they know it was me or not, so the bar code stuff doesn't matter either. Overweight things may not make it to the hands of the processors, but they still have to pay the postage. It's not just credit cards either. My subscriptions to The Funny Times, Reason, Skeptical Enquirer, and The Nation ensure that I get a broad spectrum of soliciations, all dealt with in the same manner.

He's calling all y'all fat. I thought the term "voluptuous" might be a little more gracious.

I thought Hamsters were the pets you got for your kids when you wanted them to learn about death? They never seem to last too long.

Long haired male hitchhiker in the backseat says, "Well Mr. Cowboy, aren't you going to ask me if I'm a boy or a girl?" "I don't care, I'm gonna fuck you anyway," Mike replies.

Damn! I'll never get to be an internet smarty pants.

Sorry Dru. There is no brake on a Uni, and the pedals always move with the axle. That hand in the crotch move is about gripping the seat for assorted jumps and such. Riding down a steep hill is almost as much work as riding up, since you're in full deceleration mode the whole time.

All ya'll up there should contemplate going to the Wild Buffalo tonight to see The DT's play a couple sets, with The Satisfiers as an opening act. here's two links to download a couple songs: Proud Man and Loaded Gun

I know in vintage guitars refinishing runs down the value quite a bit, but I have no idea if there even is a criteria for vintage ice axes. You might want to wait a bit and look into it before you buff off the patina gained over the decades.

Well, since we're on risque rather than wacky, City of Rocks had some doozies: Adolescent Homo Nipples and Clits and some others I can't recall. They're all moderate routes on a short wall, just the kind of thing you'd take your kids to. I know I did, we just sort of "renamed" the climbs in a temporary manner. Also, some boulders at Santee in San Diego: Butt Plug Doggy Dick and a buildering problem at Evergreen in Olympia: Gynecologist (the end of the problem is when you reach up and put your finger in the hole)
