  1. I'm pretty sure they make a cream to help with that.
  2. Personally, I think the world would be a more interesting place if we all told Minx what to do. Not safer, just more entertaining.
  3. Post of the day and it's not even 8:30 yet.
  4. The Bend has a raptor closure. Royal Columns: First Blood 5.8 fist Jam Exam 5.9 hand & finger Orange Sunshine 5.10b finger Thriller Pillar 5.9 face Render Us Weightless 5.8 roof Inca Roads 5.9 wide to finger Ball & Chain 5.10b finger Oh, and do Mushmaker too, even though only 5.7 it's fun as hell. Also went to The Oasis recently, right across the street from the Windy Point Campground. A very pleasant setting wtih some great face climbs there near King Tut, 5.10a to 5.10c. Rumor has it that the 5.11a feels easier than the 5.10c. The 5.8 climbs were merely okay, but enjoyable. Approach "trail" sucks though, steep and gravelly.
  5. Here's a route made to order by Kevin Pogue as a beginner multipitch. 5 (half rope) pitches of 5.7 face at Castle Rock Ranch (next to City of Rocks) with close regular bolt placements (you can see three below the climber in the photo).
  6. Does it give you wood to work yourself into such a state of high ethical dudgeon?
  7. Here's a couple more, file them under "new american fabulists" Tim Powers - Declare James Blaylock - The Last Coin Connie Willis - Lincoln's Dreams And, to mention a token canadian, I have a weakness for Douglas Coupland.
  8. I'm going out to pick you a bouquet! Honestly though, I really like your TR's and I'm glad you post 'em. Hope you have fun today. But maybe not too much fun.
  9. Then they are very wise to make local inquiries, aren't they?
  10. Also, as no one has pointed out, IB is not really a sport climb. There is a long section of largely unprotected loose easy climbing towards the middle with significant route finding difficulties and lots of exposure. It's too long to rappel through on the descent. If you're looking for a clip up type sport climb, this one offers good prospects for having an epic.
  11. Little Known Fact: Bill Shatner is a registered user at CC.com, but has never posted and seldom visits.
  12. Please keep this thread confined to the incident and the victim. Armchair quarterbacks and backseat drivers are asked to go here.
  13. Okay, I spawned this off from it's inappropriate location in the Accident at Leavenworth thread, and edited some to change the thread title to differentiate this brawl from the thread of origin. You can have your toy back now, carry on.
  14. If you don't get your license back by then, you might be going the limit too. I'd recommend cruise control to tame that itchy foot of yours, John.
  15. that would be "DANGER Will Robinson" Squish (wet?) Smiff (crowded?) and Spring Mtn are all in the hopper for me and my daughter. I suppose it all depends on what the weather lottery serves up.
  16. If people want to argue about the Mountaineers, chicken bolts, or how to teach climbing they're free to go start such a thread in Spray, but that recent thread (which I locked) got way out of hand. I'm intending to tease it apart and move most of it out of the accident thread to it's own home, but the boss says I gotta go back to work now.
  17. Ahhh, just STFU all ya'll, I'm locking this thread. Really sorry to hear about the guy, I'm hoping things start to look up. Apologies to the friends and family for the squabbling debacle here.
  18. Nicely done Kix.
  19. As a high school kid skiing in So Cal I not only forgot the sunscreen, but the sunglasses as well. In addition to being blistered under the chin, in the eyesockets, and randomly across my face, I felt like there were fistfuls of sand in each eye and I lost the ability to see the color yellow for a week. Not only were the yellow stoplights white, but anything that was really orange looked hot pink to me. Nowadays I'm a total wuss about the horrid burning orb, I always tell myself, "don't worry, it will go soon."
  20. oh, well, then nevermind, I don't know anything.
  21. Probably you just weren't in the proper "drive-in theatre" mode. + In contrast, I thought Thelma & Louise was a bit of a snooze. Bear in mind, I haven't seen Vanishing Point in almost 30 years How about Master of the Flying Guillotine? Surely you couldn't be so dismissive of that fine celluloid entertainment?
  22. Ooooh, more google image goodness: Pinto Rock Pinto Rock Pinto Rock - There's a sport route right of the buttress Cobble slinging for pro?
  23. I've been to Pinto, which is pretty cool, and contemplated checking out the others. Pinto is sort of conglomerateish, with hints of welded tuff, great views with stellar huckleberry picking. I suspect it's somewhere between total choss and climbable. Let us know what you find! Kirk Rock Unless you meant this Kirk Rock, which is in the Alabama Hills Big Craggy and Shark Rock from Hat Rock
  24. I highly recommend that you watch the movie, one of my all time drive-in faves.
  25. Yeah, just keep going. Me, I wondered if it was Snowbyrd, though I think she only got tagged for 96 on the way to Tuffyfest.
