Didn't give up, I just don't sit on my ass waiting for you to drool out some unintelligent prose. No, not Patriots, there ARE other types of anti-missile ordinance. Boy, why aren't you on the Joint Chiefs with all this great knowledge chuck? Do you understand what type of striking power a carrier hauls around? And do you think that carriers just float off by themselves to some Godforsaken enemy country? No, they called 'carrier groups' for a reason; a carrier travels with a wide array of support vessels, including your "smaller ships packin' cruise missles[sic]" Think about this: without carriers, how do we project our airborne Navy? I did say "other countermeasures", didn't I? You are fucking stupid, chuck. No answer will satisfy you, because you don't have a fucking clue what you are talking about except that you think aircraft carriers are "bad" and war is "mean". Fuck off, you tool.
-
Actually, chuck, I think they have pretty good countermeasures. That, and having a few F-18's flying high cover on constant rotation when they are in a hot zone. You're actually pretty fucking ignorant aren't you chuck?
-
I told you that in the STRICTEST confidence, you asshole!
-
If you can't make it this weekend, then what fucking good are you? Just kidding, bro. I found a partner. We're doing some super-sick, less than vertical, secret project, walkups. It's all very hush, hush.

At least he didn't claim to have invented the internet or that his mother sang the "Look for the Union Label" song to him when he was a baby (It was written many years later).
-
I think that might apply to just about any vice president, based on my observations.

Yeah, so has George W, Al Gore, etc. They all do, it seemed that the press went after Quayle with a new sort of maliciousness, though.
-
Oxymoronic troll or simply moronic? Discuss. Chuck, Chuck, Chuck. What's up? I'm just playing with li'l Necro, there. Why do you have to go calling names? Dick! Bwahahaha
-
I would say, from what I know, that Quayle would have performed just fine. It is well-known in Washington circles that Dan Quayle was well-respected on and off the Hill. Believe what you want, but I think it was an example of how sound bites can kill an otherwise quality individual.

Let's keep it civil, shithead.

Sonny Bono was a Republican? What was Clint Eastwood (Mayor of Carmel)? Fred Thompson (Senator from Tennesee?) was a Republican. It's funny you bring this up, it seems that Republicans are getting into politics and the Democrats (like Martin Sheen, Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins, et al) just sit on the outside and carp about everything.

Come to think of it, I got my copy right about that time, as well.

...and the sellout continues...

This is no bullshit: the girl at the mocha stand making my Americano told me about the whole thing. Once I heard I tuned in to Howard Stern (he's in New York, after all) and got the straight dope.

"We"? You got a mouse in your pocket? My posts are quite eloquent and filled with good information. Yours look like a 2nd grader's homework written in Ebonics.

E-Rock, In my understanding, having an aircraft carrier sitting off the coast of somewhere sends a much louder message than having a troopship full of Marines sitting in the same place. An aircraft carrier can reach out a lot farther and put the hurt on with greater ease than attempting to land troops and get into action. That was my point, not that it would necessarily lessen the number of troops currently needed in the Iraq situation. Greg_W

Trying to pull your head out of your ass? I dunno.

We've been using them since WWII, nitwit.

I believe it's part of the response to the need for a "rapid deployment" military. You can move a lot of shit fast in one of those big suckers. Not to mention the fact that an aircraft carrier is a VERY commanding presence and can deploy airborne assets to targets up to 1,000 miles from its location. Result: more presence and firepower with less men.

This is unconfirmed, but I believe that both "Walker" and "Herbert" are family names. EDIT: Walker is his mother's maiden name. Not sure on the Herbert, but still think it's a familial moniker. GW

and a phat fah-q to greggie poo who apparently has his knickers in a twist. good on ya lad! Fuck both of ya. I'm just trying to get shit stirring today to make it interesting.
-
ehmmic, aircraft carriers take some time to build (several years) and this was probably in the Navy's budget prior to any action in Iraq. They've probably been asking for a new carrier for several years, but are just now getting the appropriations for it. Greg_W

CBS, thanks for pointing out my grave error. I meant to say George H.W. Bush, as in President George Herbert Walker Bush (the elder). My bad. so now he's dead? No, no, he's quite alive, he's just not holding office anymore.
