I only clicked on this topic because I thought it was about Scotch, or maybe Scotch and Asprin

Two buddies of mine did it two years ago while i had to work to pay for school. Flew their stuff in (you can only do this on full moons in months ending in r or something like that), did it the next day and walked out in about a thirty hour trip. Standard route is like 5.5, with only a pitch or two to rope up for apparently. Rock is solid choss. Expect company as it's a big tick. Lots of Oh and it's in BC (lots of 'Berts for some reason think it's theirs!) It's pronounced "The "Boiner"

http://www.elaho.ca/future.htm Chief topo poster, cool! I know that Mr. McLane is alwys a little optimistic on the publication dates, but some neat stuff to look forward to. Don, will the West Coast Ice re-release contain new stuff I'm assuming?

Sold. That was quick, I probably should've asked for more

I prodealed these last spring and they sent me two pairs -- can't return them. Still in shipping plastic. Fully seam taped waterproof shell with removable thick pile fleece liners. Probably good for Denali and such, but I bought them for winter skiing in BC. Gucci is not making them this year, I guess because not enough people bought them last year. Size large, black. $100 CDN or $65 US incl shipping. Retailed for 160 CDN. Gimme PM if interested. [ 10-26-2002, 01:22 PM: Message edited by: jordop ]

Vulcan's thumb is not 9'000 and nor is it a hidden gem. Probably best left alone is more like it. Yes, the south face is about 3'000, but the entire thing is a big piece of mud and is easily visible from the Squamish river road. Maybe after a full Scottish storm it might be possible to get up a fair bit of it, but there are better things out there.

That's some nice pics there gents!

Vitamin E and B12 will help as well as an anti-inflamatory. Get well soon. I'll second that recomendation of intensive and proactive physio. Three years after shattering my talus (greenstick fracture), I am still fighting the after effects of immobility; calf muscles shrink, cartiledge builds, and you get these wonderful bone-on-bone sounds after descending steep trails

In mid to late November, one can drive right up to the microwave ridge of the Tusk in a 4WD hc (horsecock/high clearance!) The place is choked with sleds but there are plenty of nice runs within an hour or two of the car with some rock skiis. For anyone interested in wacko nutbar exploratory type stuff, I'm leading a few trips for the BCMC in the new year: http://www.bivouac.com/EvtPg.asp?rq=List&ClubId=1 Sign up now as I hate being responsible for lots of bodies (that's my day job!) Oh and the BCMC is nothing like the Mounties. Instead of newbie trundling accident magnets, most BCMC members are grizzled washed up old farts in wool knickers with stories about Beckey from the sixties. While they may not have the social capacity for engaged conversation, most seem to have that old school give 'er

http://www.bivouac.com/RtePg.asp?RteId=1328 Climbed on Oct 22, 2002? Either the guy can time travel or is so sure of his FA today that he is forward chest beating!

Be very wary of Taiga as a lot of their clothing absolutely bites and their return policy is absolutely non-existant if you have a problem. I was once there on a Boxing Day (seriously) and watched the staff deny a guy who got a jacket for XMAS witha stain on it. Down in all its forms has drawbacks; without dryloft your breath wets it out, with your body vapour wets it out. Neither dry well at all -- fine if you're only out for a day. Over a multi-day ski trip, wearing your belay clothes inside a sythetic bag makes the most sense -- absolutely no worry factor. Synthetic can dry out in a few hours in the sun too. My new Polarguard Delta (TNF Cat's Meow) is much more durable, warmer, and lighter than an old 3D bag which I ruined in a year. Synthetic is so cheap that you can sleep in the dirt and not feel bad. Embrace all gear that gets you closer to your inner dirtbag

first ascent First Ascent-"Back of Beyond Buttress"

That there is the rare phenonmenon known as Solipsistic Vertigo whereby the fear one is experiencing has the power to actually alter the angle of the rock in the picture to better reflect the actual experience. This strange occurrence is also further enhanced by consuming 6 beer each the previous night, not expecting to climb anything the next day and then experiencing the "oh shits" when you actually do have to climb something. No rock isn't vertical there, check the pics on page one. It aint mank though, that's fer sure. [ 10-22-2002, 09:30 AM: Message edited by: jordop ] -
So the rock was mank up there huh? Too bad, there's a lot of good contours in them parts
