    Dogs?

the reason the dogs that people meet on the trail can be so cool when they are out and about hiking is cause they are usually delighted to be out of the condo/apt/concrete jungle, and have already sniffed and run themselves tired. Taking your dog out hiking is being a responsible doggy parent. SO, if you are on Si, keep him/her on a leash, but if elsewhere, and far away from people and roads, whatever. Of course I have a perfect dog who would never take shortcuts on the trails...
  4. Oh my goodness... it's SO thin.... owoowowowowowo
  5. Depends on what grade you climb. they are beautiful routes, not contrived, some really really nice lines, but on the stiff side. There is only one 5.9 if I remember correctly. The group putting them up has done a LOT of work out there, trails, gardening, so please respect the area. You have to walk down the road a bit now that the DOT people put up new railings. Some routes stay dry, yes, and if it's raining in torrents, heck just head over to Mazama (when the N. Cascade hwy is open that is)

    Dogs?

horse poo is not nearly as awful to step in as dog poo... It's just digested grass/hay, not all the awful things dogs eat... usually just kind of becomes one with the trail... doesn't get stuck in the treads... That said: I'm in favor of leashes.... I'd be heartbroken if she chased a squirrel into oblivion... or hurt herself cause I was being selfish and lazy and not wanting the "hassle" of having her on a leash.
  7. Will work a couple 12's at Harborview and hopefully help save a few lives.... But if it's slow, hope to get my MP3's organized.... Dreaming of Montana Ice...
  8. My non climbing friends and co-workers are always calling me crazy, saying I'm going to kill myself ice climbing, and trying to get me to stop. It pisses me off. So I don't talk about it unless I know someone around is a climber. I have gotten tired of trying to justify "the RISKS I take"... Way back when, no one thought it was strange when I told them I was a scuba diver, and the things I did were a lot nuttier than anything I do now... (caves, shipwrecks, deep - 300+) They'd just say, WOW, isn't it cold up here, and ask if I'd done any tropical diving, and then go on about their trip to cayman, almost apologetically since I had not been there... Whatever....
  9. that G1 pitch looks as picked out as ICY BC gets when it's in fat.... But heck, I'll take picked out to nothing the way this winter is going... I am praying to the ice gods and dancing the ice dance...
  10. can we borrow your friends?
  11. Anyone been out there?
  12. I heard it was cold last week, but was gonna warm up over the weekend? How did ice fare?

    Hey ICEGIRL!!!

hah! I knew I'd catch some flack for climbing in go-go shorts... but they were the only things available at the Methow General Store (I'd packed for cold and rain). It seems like a conspiracy to me...

    Hey ICEGIRL!!!

yes, you guys are right (and thank you dashing hero dwayner) I do need to update the site... I go to the gym on an off peak pass... so I don't see a lot of people there (except the hordes of smalls climbing in the tenni runners) Yes, that pumping iron shot was a last minute addition... tee hee... AND, alpineK, there is the obligitory topless shot, if you only looked.
  16. How has the weather been treating the ice????
  17. For what it's worth.... The nickerson is non smoking until the kitchen is closed.... Best of both worlds... the non-smokers who don't want to breath smoke, could leave... The Dexter and Hayes - we had the downstairs to ourselves... Any smoke made was our own, and I think most chose to smoke outside... Even better, when the weather warms up a bit, there is the whole backyard that the french doors open out too...
  18. you can find the carrick bend in any "knots for sailing" books... Very nice rugs!
  19. Uh, dwayner, I'll have you know that I was definately at the pub club _I_ called at the Dexter and Hayes (even though I was on call and had to dring ginger ale), I even bought a couple pitchers and nachos. Where were you? re: rotating pub clubs. I think it was kind of decided that if pub clubs were not being attended, then we should have them at places that get attended.
  20. how about a brunette on each arm??
  21. Queen Anne - I'm assuming, was the Dexer and Hayes... The Hilltop and those on top of the hill seem a little ritzy for our gang of hoodlums (and parking sucks)
  22. looks like it's time to go make friends with some orchardists...
  23. yes, I believe there is a group of climbers that has been developing lots of neat climbs up and down the okanogan valley.
  24. I've heard that many macho guys don't like it 'cause of the texture...
  25. yeah, the giant snowballs and the freshly exploded tree trunks are a good sign that there was a recent slide. That was loose lady and Night n gale last time I was up... Those snowballs that are larger then me are a pain in the ass to hike on....
