camera strap around the neck, but around my chest I wear a length of rubber tubing that I tuck the camera and strap underneath, this usually keeps it tucked in... If weather is an issue, I tuck the camera under my coat, this also keeps it warm and keeps the batteries from freezing. If I'm worried about getting it wet from sweat, I put it in a baggy. So far all my cameras still work, so far so good. I used to carry them in a case on my pack, but same story, it was just not easy enough to pull it out and shoot when you see that sunbeam breaking through the clouds.

Last time I tried to put a wig on my dog, they both ended up in the front seat trying to kill it. HEY! Why you tryin' to put a snafflehound on my head! Here, let me help you with that! Quick! Get it get it! I got it! Now we gotta tug on it! Needless to say i had to pull over as I was laughing too hard to drive...

All I can say is ...amazing... TRASK!! Check it out, you gotta ask santa for one of those!

Geez, I have the same problem. I take off climbing for a week with the guys, and the ex-Man at Home gets all worried. What I need is someone who cooks, cleans and happily sits my dogs while I'm off climbing in Canada.

Super Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have the opposite problem, I have midget hands and feet, and no one makes gloves and socks small enough (other than shopping in the kiddie department as marylou can attest) I found the "guide" gloves way too bulky when they make them in a size XS or S or whatever the hell I got on sale at Marmot to be terribly useful. The fingers are so thick with the leather that my poor little piggies are spread miles apart. Someone, somewhere, please make gloves for the smaller people??? (or if you have experience with something that works that is not a childs mitten, let me know) The last great glove I found that was super warm and fit like a "glove" was the smartwool ice glove, can't remember the name, got them at PMS. I've used them for 3 seasons now, and the only negative is they don't have a gauntlet. This is easily remedied by going to any fishermans store and getting neoprene gauntlets like the fishermen use in the bearing sea. They are great, as they improve the lifespan of the glove and make your glove/sleeve super low profile. -L

film that will allow you to take digital images with your non-digital camera.
-
I believe it is. I keep telling him to keep it and wait for the silicone film to make it out, but he's downsizing, and has gone digital, which is adequate for what he does with it.

Whole kit around $650, but would take best offer.

Does he not have a B-day coming up? Maybe CC.com-ers should have the Jan 13 PC in honor of the Man... Any thoughts?

as a kit or as seperate parts?

My boxer boy has been on Mt. Rain-dog more times than I. His previous owners took him all over the cascades. He LOVES it. He's from kodiac alaska, so I guess that might have helped prepare him for the more adverse conditions. He is a hiking machine. Go go go go... My boxer girl runs full speed non stop through any conditions, she bounds like a bunny through deep stuff, and just rips it up. Pretty funny to watch, it's not a long term thing though, and hour or two and she's exhausted and getting cranky and picking fights with the Boy. Just like a woman

One of my friends is offloading some nice camera equipment... PM if interested, serious inquiry only please. The camera is a Nikon titanium body highpoint F3 (very spendy way back when, one of the best things out there. These are on ebay @ $300-400). Also have the SB-17 flash, also have 55 mm macro lens. Have two Vivatar 283 flash units, and have photocell triggers Have a Photogenic Power Light PL06A plus whatever you call the little tentlike thing that goes around it to dampen the flash. Have misc. brackets and cords, free to whoever buys the rest of it. Fair market is tough on some of this stuff, ebay is the great equilizer...

female urinary directors are quite nice for those really cold windy situations. I am much happier NOT dropping my drawers on ice climbs. Brrr... http://staff.washington.edu/ljames/girl.html

I'm not clear on the paying thing. Is that above and beyond the $$ we already pay to be a member there? If it's not, then it's a great deal, Annual membership is like 100 bucks. If so, then yeah, that sucks.

My error then about the full shank. So you've done a bit of waterfall ice and mixed in them and they perform well? Good to know.
-
Wee bit flexible, the ridged cramps have a tendancy to pop off of things that are not full shank (or so I've experienced)... Or I should say, I don't think I'd trust 'em with my rambo comps, but as far as alpine stuff with flexible cramps... As far as I understand, flexible for really technical stuff is fine as long as it's in the ankle, not the sole of the boot. If I'm way off base, I'm open to input, but it would take a bit to change my mind...

is sport climbing is the basis of trad climbing?

TR's are aid Then again, so are ice tools... -
Uh, like dru said. have you been around banks lake in the summer? Not a lot of irrigation going on and the ice still forms in good years, and doesn't in bad years. Water table is water table from where the well diggers stand. Either you get a regular one dug, or an extra deep well dug (We went for the deep variety and have not had a water problem up in the highlands above Omak) Water's been doin' it's thing for a long long time.
