  1. Unfortunately killing one snafflehound does not register a fear of climbers in the others. It reduces the competition for your chewables. The remaining snafflehounds eat the corpse and get bigger and stronger. Since the park rangers got bent out of shape when Layton bbq'ed a devils club I'm guessing they will probably crucify you for killing a snaffle without a permit? Best not to brag about such feats.
  2. They mean Chehalis Lake.
  3. Having bailed off Slesse myself in the rain, I can say that pins are not necessary to bail from this route - that's what the many trees are for.
  4. You just like the "bi" part.
  5. Even as late as the 1980s, it WAS a glacier. It now slides out more years than not (6 of the last 8 if my count is correct) but still forms ice and hence cannot be called a "snow" patch.
  6. I climb with tastier partners and never have a problem.
  7. Snafflehounds are a part of the Cascades. Deal.
  8. Kevbone's fav climb is into Pink's bed.
  9. The Grand Wall at Squamish
  10. I once saw an elderly climber employing a fifi hook on a sport route to enjoy a no-hands rest on every bolt
  11. be prepared to dodge rangers cause you are only allowed to stay for 2 weeks at a time...?
  12. Mount Stewart actually does have a north buttress, but it has gone 40 years without a second ascent.

  18. from experience once it hits -30 in lake louise it is usually better climbing in lillooet
  19. I saw a garter snake chimneying its way up a finger crack in the Smoke Bluffs. Found a mummified tarantula on a ledge in Keyhole Canyon NV More on an alpine route but there is a balanced erratic up at Meager... a 4 foot boulder on top of a 6 foot boulder
  20. you can make it sound more sexy and dark by calling it "lick heel"
  21. There is a Stone Dudes calendar but apparently it doesn't sell as well.... aside from the 10 copies Kevbone buys.
  22. -40C in Jasper. Too cold to climb, but we tried. Ow.
  23. There have been a couple times when I climbed out of my comfort zone and into "no retreat" situations, either because of soloing or trying to make a new route go, and once because of not having the right piece of gear for the pitch. In all of these cases I have eventually been in a situation where I have made moves I was uncertain of success on, where the consequence for failure was death or life-changing injury. I couldn't recommend these pitches to anyone, and I would have to say that nowadays at least I would do a lot to avoid them, but I'm as proud of having succeeded on those pitches as I am of anything else I have ever done, because if I hadn't I would not be here.
