  1. That was me and my buddy Aaron. Pisser of it is we actually had snowshoes...in the car. For every 20 miles I've carried those f-er's on my pack I've walked in them 1. Our faded thought process involved us gleefully prancing on top of the 'hard'-pack all the way up to Dragontail. This was not to be. We were passed by 3 guys skinning up towards Stuart...I think the gust blew us down as they went by.
  2. If what Alex says is correct and it is a new line perhaps then we should side with Packard suggestion for a name. ...more than just you & Hanna...
  3. Will be down there for 2 weeks in November. Looking to get away from the standard dustbowl campsites. Suggestions appreciated.
  4. He did RP Chronic and 2 other 13's since..not bad for just under 2 years since he started...prick. Devon, all this time I thought you were working on Rainier in the summers and you were just galivanting about the N Cascades.
  5. I can understand if one was hindered by a couple of extra pounds of unwanted 'shapp-fat' it might be difficult to conceptualize the idea of a 1 hr approach to GGB base but to credit Eban's lack of concern for his truck and phenom-driving abilities we did it in 'about an hour'...the 'about' opens up the possibility of 1 1/2 hrs.
  6. Was just up there yesterday...I wouldn't drive as far as my buddy did. Below are my best guesses: Drive as far as you choose past 3 o'clock, we walked the road for a 1-1 1/2 miles-ish but for most expect around 2. Just keep the trail in sight when crossing the drainages and don't make the mistake once encountering the first of the slabs down low of continuing past the trail that takes off to the right. I think there was a small cairn on a boulder here. I think it took us around an hour to get to the base.
  7. Some buddies of mine encountered a problem while descending from their North Ridge climb on Sunday that forced them to leave some things behind. They used the Ingalls approach, climbed the full North Ridge and descended the Sherpa glacier. This is what I know has been left: [*]ice axe and crampons at Goat Pass (left on the way out) [*]Lowe pack, pocket rocket stove, harness, rock shoes, sleeping pads & bags at the base of the lower North Ridge [*]misc gear left for an expedient rap towards the Sherpa glacier They don't expect any of this returned and have written it off but...I know most heading into that area already have more than enough of their own and wouldn't have any room for such things, but if you do, or happen to be doing a day hike in the area I know any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  8. There's also free BLM camping on the east side of the park, past the RV campgrounnd which I was depending on since I'll be there in a couple of weeks and most of the camp spots were full. Anyone know if this area (east side) has been closed off as jlag indicated??
  9. Putting this up for sale again as buyer went MIA...(Kevin, if you're out there call me and it's still yours.) Used less than 6 times, aired out, cleaned and stored following each use. Has 2 small crampon holes in base (bottom pic)that I will patch prior to sale. All seams sealed. $400 for questions call Don 425 647 5051 or PM. Thanks
  10. Pisser...one resorts blacks are others greens it seems. WA black runs seem to be bit more steep than any other place I've been.
  11. The annual mancation landed us at Steamboat this year (Jan 25), having never been there I had a couple of questions for those who have: 1. At $91 F*&^ing a lift ticket I'm afraid I'll do more drinking than boarding; does anyone have a line a discount tickets, maybe like a CO pass for multiple resorts (I'll be there for 1 week) and if no, preferred discounted watering holes? 2. Should I bring the ice tools for a reprieve from the skiing and murderous lift prices. (Would be going solo, WI3 or easier, no car, staying on the mountain). Thanks all.
  12. Well put this in your magic 8-ball weather forecasting machines ENSO predictors...(picture and comment valid for 2 days): http://www.stevenspass.com/Stevens/info/mountain-cams.aspx
  13. Anyone want to offer up the location of this Harrison West FSR, and where it's picked up? Is this a time saver vs. going north to Lillooet?
  14. Was in D-town yesterday as well, too bad we missed you. Climbed Total Soul as a party of three...that aforementioned snow patch did blocked the traditional start but can be easliy bypassed to the right with some thin gear in the corner then by traversing left to the first bolt. It was suggested to start the first pitch from the snow patch, I thought otherwise when I saw the bridge thickness...or lack of...and was satisfied w/ my decision when while clipping the 2nd bolt a 1/4 of the snow patch collapsed and slid down the gulley. Pitch 1 and 2 could use some more sweeping and the pitch 4 crack has some minor vegatation taking root, other than that the whole route is in good shape. Gotta be one of my favs in D-town.
  15. Myself and 3 others will be there Sat. 6/14 and climbing throught the week, will be at campsites 34 & 35 Mon. night - Fri. night 6/20. That weather forecast looks like it's from the other side of the world...will be a welcome change. Where are these hot springs?
  16. If they let back in their town after that 'generous tip' you awarded your friendly bar maid the last time. ...cheap ass.
  17. I must say; some dapper cat's you're hangin with these days Matt..
  18. ...and whoever may be approaching via the granite sidewalk.
  19. yeah, thanks mark. maybe we could go check out your work, say, tomorrow?
  20. Pack it in to the Condoriri group, there's several easy peaks accessible w/in a few hours from the lake where you camp. Try looking up info on Pyramida Blanca and Pequeño Alpamayo.
  21. don't work so well when using that rope on rappel
  22. yeah, i'm sure darringotn will plenty dry monday.
  23. you were receiving the rogers network signal from canada on top of baker and therefore were charged the roaming. you originally had a digital at&t tdma service which, back in the day was superior as it was the only choice but now is bout as worthless as 2 cups on a string because most the channels (850) have been migrated to the gsm network. try the gsm netwok now...much better
  24. a few... on the way in to the condoriri, bolivia bouldering outside copacabana near d-town beggar at lunch
