I read recently that they won't charge for rescues because that if they did, people would be more likely to wait until it was too late to save them to call. Someone would think about a five-figure rescue bill, and not call until they were severely hypothermic or in a panic, and wind up being carried out in a rubber bag. Who pays for that?

Well, I'm glad you have a decent broker, because many of them are just guys with MBAs that know how to talk the talk.

I think it was Peter Lynch that said that there are three things to remember about stockbrokers... 1. Stockbrokers are salesmen. 2. Stockbrokers are salesmen. 3. Stockbrokers are salesmen. They get paid on commission or per sale, and many of them SUCK at stockpicking. Spray on: When you're picking a broker, ask to see their personal portfilio and their personal income tax records for the last few years. Almost all of them will shit if you ask them this. They will refuse to share any of this information with you, and at the same time they expect you to trust them with your personal finances.

If a reporter hears from anybody that you've ever been climbing before, especially if that's what they want to hear and it will help sell the story, then you're an experienced climber.

Climbed Daniel yesterday. Hiked in Saturday with beautiful weather. Slogged up Lynch glacier in wind & rain yesterday. Visibility was pretty minimal, so it took us some extra time to find the scramble route down. The scramble was more interesting than the climb, IMHO.
