    Rope

I have a used 60 meter 9.8mm Sterling climbing rope that still has a lot of life left in it. It's a couple seasons old, has seen 6 trips to Smith, and has 2 leader falls < 15 feet. I'll sell it to you for $30 and you can cut it in half and have 2 ropes to use at Marymore. Since I still have 4 other ropes, I just don't need that one anymore.
  2. Brand new. Never been used. Size SM/MD. $50 OBO. Buyer pays shipping or pick up can be arranged if in Seattle area. PM me if interested.
  3. My used wagon will have four doors and either a volvo or a subaru emblem on it. Leftover money will be used to pay off some of my student debt.
  4. Time to sell my dream climber's mobile and get a used wagon. I really am selling it this year. Will be listed on other auto sale sites in mid-August. Thought I'd offer it here first. Price $8000 (fairly firm). 1998 King cab SE, 4cyl manual 5-speed 125,000 (mostly freeway) miles Dual airbags Anti-lock breaks Great condition, both engine and interior Moon roof Canopy (felt lined) w/slider window access to cab Spray-in bed liner Air conditioning CD/Tape/AM/FM 2 power ports Custom adjustable Yakima rack system Fully serviced at 122,000 (service records during my ownership available). Will need new tires before winter. Minor exterior blemishes. Rear build-out available if interested: bed, storage space, and lockable shelf unit & curtains Send me a pm if interested.
  5. Why would they do that? If they are properly placed and connected to the anchor slings they should not walk.

    Pub Club?

Klenke's idea is better. Hard to get pitcher refills at GG when the men in blue make you pour it all in the sand. Have fun. Working sucks sometimes. I'll show up after I actually get out climbing again. Have fun.
  7. Man, Klenke, that is an awesome pic. I want a printout when they're confirmed. I've wondered what many of the smaller peaks were since I moved here and would look west on a clear day. Very nice work.
  8. Perhaps in the big big scheme of things emmissions will be reduced somewhere, but I am with Ryland on this one. I think we need to impose tougher standards on companies that pollute and try to improve air quality for the climate, but also for the overall health of the population. Lung diseases and asthma are increasing at far greater rates than ever. A long-term epidemiology study has shown that people who live in areas with a lot of small particulates (less than 2 microns diameter) from polluting cars, trucks, buses, etc. lose about 2 years of their life expectancy. This is a problem in developed nations and also in developing nations. With the laxity of clean air quality standards under GW more cities and suburbs have poor air quality for more days during the year. Unfortunately this whole air quailty argument is primarily discussed in terms of global climate change and in geologic time scale that people cannot directly relate to. If it were reframed as a public health concern and people understood their quality of life would be improved and their kids wouldn't have trouble breathing, they might actually be motivated to care about the issue and push for changes in legislation and regulation. Coal burning power plants are also a big source of mercury and heavy metal contaminates in our lakes and rivers. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to actually eat seafood more than twice a week? A pollution credit system is a way for big business to avoid fines for non-compliance while they figure out how to make the economics of making large scale investment to reduce emmisions. Unfortunately like any trading market it is becoming it's own animal that people are using to make money. In the end if there is enough supply for companies to avoid making investment in cleaner technology, they will continue to find ways to avoid spending money to reduce pollution.
  9. Generally I believe they are. I have a buddy that works at AirLift. If it is any different I'll let y'all know.
  10. But was there enough left of the remains to make a stuffed snaffle trophy?
  11. Nolse - Fraud protection is great. Did you have your SSN info in your wallet too (paycheck stub or something)?
  12. Congrats! I got a pretty bad sunburn down on Mt. Shasta when I first started climbing on glaciers. Since then I've used Coppertone 30 SPF Oil Free for Sensitive Skin (less oily than some others), it really is sweat proof. For my lips I use Banana Boat Sport 30 SPF lip protector and have not had another burn in the mountains. Make sure to reapply the lip stuff often and to not breathe too much with your mouth open if it is really sunny. The sun reflects off your teeth and the inside of your lips and mouth can get sunburned. Believe me it hurts...

    Pub Club?

Gotta work this week. Maybe next Tuesday night we'll have another PC. I'll check in next week. Enjoy the sloop
  14. We're back from our 10 day adventure in Bella Coola - Chilcotin area. It was a great time, but a little on the unusally rainy side. According to the locals the Chilcotin gets occasional thunder storms this time of year, but it had been raining nearly every day for the past 4 weeks. Climate change? Thanks for all the advice on places to check out. We weren't able to get down to Ape Lake because the road is washed out 12k from the trailhead. Many of the Bella Coola valley 4WD roads had bad washouts this spring from all the rain. The place seems to be a little slice of heaven for anglers. The Chilcotin is amazing. I can't wait to get back there in better weather and do some more exploring. Dru - were you joking when you said we should ask the parks staff? What parks staff? There was a pretty knowledgeable volunteer at the info office in Bella Coola, but he didn't have much info about the park, other than to tell us that a campground was closed due to bears when it was really only closed to tent campers... The place is pretty deserted of parks staff and the people we talked to on the return at BC Parks office in Williams Lake were lame. I guess they've poured all their resources into a pretty slick web site and figure so few people go there it is not really worth staffing.
  15. That was the next voyage the ferry took after my boyfriend and I rode it out to Vancouver Island the night before. It was weird to hear the news that it crashed on the return trip...
  16. Korup - have you contacted BD about the failure? They'd probably love to analyze the piece and may even send you a new one.
  17. This is really sad for the climbing community and the Mountaineers.
  18. I will when we get there...but I thought some of you might have an answer.
  19. Buddha_monkee, You can also get some info and pics here.
  20. Hey there. 6 days till takeoff. Does anyone know if we can actually use the Rainbow Cabin as a shelter rather than bring along a tent for our overnight? Thanks.
  21. Happy b-day Marie. I'll think of y'all having fun while I'm working... Have a for me. Cheers!
  22. I've found that hyped up homeopathic remedy Airborne actually makes me feel better when I take it. I think some of the herbs in it help with the congestion. Dechristo - be careful not to take too much zinc as it has been shown to take the lead out of your pencil when you get older.
  23. The parade was not as good this year IMO. It is loosing that Fremont, anti-establishment feel. But this was the one of the coolest parade costumes there. You had to stick around to the end to see the robots. Photo courtesy of my SO.
