Period. I thought you had me on "ignore", Trash. Way to stick to your principles.

....Tuesday, that is. If the Dems win The House - as predicted - Crux, Marylou, Foraker, Prole, Jim, et al, can pop the champange corks and celebrate a brighter future for America. And if they lose, well, it must be those evil men at Diebold rigging the machines - or some other right wing conspiracy! After all, how could any thinking citizen possibly vote differently than the majority here on cc.com! I think there is a name for this psycological condition, but it escapes me right now. Of course, you're 'right' either way, eh? Now we're all pretty sure the Dem's will take The House on Tuesday - and I'm not really all that upset about restoring some gridlock to our government. But wouldn't it just be a hoot if the Republicans pulled it out and hung on to power yet again? I would just love to be able to log on here Wednesday and listen to the collective outrage, or turn on network news to hear words like "stunned", "demanding investigation", and "recount". Ahhh, to dream. But, of course, I don't really think this will happen. The Dem's will win The House (but not the Senate) and attempt to cut off funding for Iraq operations, their slim majority won't be enough to overcome the howls of indignation at defunding 'the troops', a few moderate Dems will peel off - and nothing will change. Bush's tax cuts will sunset, and the Dems will be brow-beaten into submitting a compromise bill - and nothing will change. Bush will veto any goof-ball bills that make it through Republican Senate compromise - and nothing will change. The angst will only increase, and nothing will change. Enjoy Tuesday night, but just know this.... nothing's gonna change.

If the driver of a bus full of children shows the middle finger to Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, or even John F Kerry, that driver should be fired. Period. If that same driver issues the same physical proclamation from her personal vehicle on the way home from work she should be applauded for celebrating her first ammendment rights - but may wish to seek professional help to keep such public outbursts under control.

"the depth of ice on the Blue Glacier has dropped an average of 65 feet annually since 1987" I still don't think this fits your explanation. 65x19(yrs)= 1235 feet of overall depth. Even if your explanation is valid, the conveyance in a lay publication is improper.

That's why I'm voting for President Smooth.

I haven't been up to the top recently. I am fascinated by the surge activity going on above the southeast rim of Sunset Ampitheatre. The Tahoma Icecap now has an active finger that connects the upper South Mowich to the summit snows. Have you noticed? Anyone climb it yet? I suspect it will disappear in the next couple of years.

http://www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/broken.government/ "Fair and Balanced" never did apply to CNN. Why are they running this multi-day special just a week before a national election? Note the title of the series, "Broken Government - Where the Right Went Wrong." Gimme a break. Clearly partisan - much more so than anything I've ever seen on FOX. And clearly meant to sway voters to a particular party. Hey Crux! Do you think that editors and execs at CNN should be jailed and fined like you did when ABC aired The Path to 9/11?

From the article:"On the north side of Mount Olympus, in the Olympic Mountains, the depth of ice on the Blue Glacier has dropped an average of 65 feet annually since 1987, according to estimates by University of Washington researchers." Huh? I climbed Olympus last year for the first time since 1984. I did notice the lower glacier seems to have dropped a bit, but the depth of ice near the base of the icefall is/was over 1100 feet! Let's see; at 65 feet per year since '87....that's over 1200 feet of depth supposedly lost! Obviously a misquote, but when you're writing a story like this, details DO matter. That picture of the South Cascade Glacier is absolutely shocking.

I'll be in Bellingham Saturday. Maybe I'll express it in person.

Nice try, punk. He was talking to a group of kids about the value of education. And he was talking contemptuously about American soldiers - just like you do.
-
Prole = John Kerrey? http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15499174/ "You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq." Arrogance of the left on display - again.

I don't know, but it's still on-air and profitable. And, to my knowledge, they never filed for bankruptcy.

Arrogance. I'm sure our troops would love to read such a succinct example of your unbridled contempt. The poverty and ignorance cards you and yours regularly deal are particularly galling. The "support the troops" rallying cry and disciplinary cudgel is the epitome of patronizing contempt for soldiers and their families. It's founded on the notion that those in combat have to know that they are fighting for a just cause, that they and their buddies are not dying in vain, that their sacrifices have been worth it. Can anyone in their right mind say that the catastrophe, chaos, and hell that is the US invasion and occpation of Iraq has been worth it? If the answer is no, then continuing support for this war, staying the course and feeding troops an obvious line of bullshit means you don't support the troops at all, you support their use as cannon-fodder in an illegal war waged for illegitimate ends that the current administration has all but admitted is unwinnable. If you really wanted to support the troops, and here I mean the actual human beings under the uniforms and not the institutions of the armed forces, then you'd be doing your best to get them the fuck out of there. This includes making information that is verboten or unavailable to them available, encouraging organized refusal. The paternalistic "support the troops" rhetoric has extended the shelf life of "Operation Clusterfuck" and therefore put more US troops through the meatgrinder. History has focused primarily on the antiwar movement within the US as a main motor for ending the war in Vietnam. Not suprisingly, the highly effective anti-war movement within the armed forces itself has been largely ignored. Resistance to and refusal of direct orders, going AWOL, etc. in an organized manner was instrumental in ending that horrorshow. These people were no more traitorous than were runaway slaves! The internalization of the idea that human beings could become the property of others, plantation owner or military is fundamentally wrong, downright fucking barbaric. Any notion of really supporting the troops must first dispel this sick, inhumane, and immoral idea. Check out the new film "Sir, No Sir": http://www.netflix.com/MovieDisplay?movieid=70043764&trkid=189530&strkid=268177404_0_0 A nicely convoluted response to your indefensible statement. On one hand you're basically calling our soldiers uneducated killers and torturers and sarcastically proclaiming that you can't wait for their safe return, and now you're saying " 'hooray for our troops', but I wish they would mutiny to validate my political beliefs". Just great, man. You're a real shit bag Prole/j_b. I always knew Bellingham was full of defectives. Here's some advice: Your 7 years at WWU ended a while ago - why not move out into the real world and spread the word? I suspect you'll find people's views beyond that 5 mile campus radius are more diverse than you realize.

He'll soon have a hard time hearing Air America anywhere as it filed for bankruptcy last week and has no sources left for additional funding. And if NPR were taken off the public dole I doubt it would last long either. (But I will admit to actually liking much of their programming.) As confirmation of the beliefs held by so many 'progressives', it seems the free market and boredom just don't get along without extorting capital from hard working folks via taxation - or at least milking charity from wealthy left-leaning activists. It now appears Air America's inflated poll numbers were nothing more than questionees making a political statement - few advertisers there saw a noticeable lift in sales. So long Air America...so long Al Franken. You just weren't that entertaining - or funny.

Mom's calling! Say's it's bath-time.

I doubt my wife could even watch you masterbate and contain her laughter. My 5'2" black-belt daughter would probably just rip off your sack and braid your Vas deferens' into a new cordelette.

I'll take this juncture to insult Fairweather's wife. She's a whore. $20 on a venomous reply within 20 seconds of his reading? You upset that I insulted your girlfriend? Psssst....I don't know how to say this delicately, but, here goes.... I hear she's seen more than just a few cc.com members members.

"Takes his ball and goes home?" I believe MaryLou was the one who hit the ignore this user radio button. She joins her fellow losers; Trashtarkington and Moschillin. I haven't left what you call 'this discussion' at all, but some of your comrades certainly have. When the core of this thread consists of leftists making statements like, "I am ashamed to be an American", "Let's put Saddam back in power", "Saddam = George Bush", "650,000 dead - how dare you claim only 60,000!", and Prole propegating an outright hysteric lie from dubious sources about a US-sponsored coup, I feel no compulsion to play nice. How do you think our troops over there would feel if they read your bullshit? This thread is a who's who of the cc.com self-hate-hate-america crowd. Other than Trashkent's Iraq partition proposal, which Bush has wrongly rejected, I see no solutions here. Just the usual bullshit. Go look in the mirror fuckheads. I am you looking back from the other side.

Ah, but we have met. You just didn't realize it at the time.
