...or calling someone bitter? In the past Josh has liked to flaunt his edu-credentials during these little discussions, so I've determined it appropriate to mention his somewhat glaring deficiencies therein. I'm sure he'll be happy you've come to his defense though.
-
It looks like the University of Colorado Boulder still has a deficient English department. I would hate to think of you entering the real world representing your school with the skills you demonstrate here. Yikes! Maybe a local community college has a 60-level course in which you can enroll?
-
I didn't say that. What I said was that your idea--often proposed--is naive.
-
Me thinks it is you who is bitter. So tell me, pad wan, which form of electricity generation do your enviro-lib friends prefer? Hydro? No. Your pals are trying to tear down half of Bonneville's generating capacity on The Snake River as we speak. Nuclear? No. Coal? No. (Tacoma gets a fair amount of coal generated capacity from the plant in Centralia.) Wind? No. Bio fuels? Yes...and look what is happening to food production/prices. Sometimes doing nothing is better than doing the wrong thing, don't you think? Unfortunately, knee-jerk libs like you are all too gullible...or want to rely on government to finance their pie-in-the-sky dreams. Use less oil? Hell yes I'm for it. I always hear a lot of ideas, but never do I hear a real plan. What's your plan, Josh?

Yeah...haven't lived in a dorm for quite some time now. My thermostat is as low as it goes, there isn't a single set of lights on in my apartment. Obviously my computer is on. You clearly have no concept of how much you actually have to increase your food intake to pedal to work (especially when it's only 2 flat miles away). Try an extra glass of OJ, or a muffin (if your ride is more than 30 minutes). I'm sure you only eat the exact necessary amount everyday. Or maybe you have a little 'comfort food' while you sit in your car on a bad traffic day, or perhaps a little 'pick me up' while you sit at your computer and try to come up with 'witty' responses to threads. Nice try on the bicycle components too....I'm sure it was so much more oil than it would take for me to drive a car to work or deliver all of my 'car components' to plants for assembly and delivery to dealerships. Mis-quoting hacks...gotta love it. Sorry, I guess I just assumed that your youth-like idealism was exactly what it seemed. Feel free to cut consumption of energy all you want--it's a good idea. Just don't live under any illusions about Guilded Age monopoly politics driving the current price crisis. Better yet, take a look at how your 401k assets are invested and see if the company administering your plan is involved in some of the rampant speculation taking place in the oil market. You really think you're standin' up to da man by taking a day off petrol? Chances are good that in some way you are the man.
-
"Oil Barons"? "Well lined pockets"? Don't forget to turn off your dorm room thermostats, computers, and lights. And try to at least imagine the oil it took to deliver those extra food calories and bicycle components to market. Well-intentioned simpletons. Gotta love it.

I believe Waterman's daddy was a dark artiste liberal as well who ended up stripping his clothes off and letting the elements take his life somewhere back east. A self-destruct gene that runs through the family. Unfortunately, his narcissistic nature would never allow Tvashy to relieve society so.
-
Whatever you say, Little Lotta. Sorry Tvash, but I said a little extra adipose. As usual, you miss the concept of moderation and seem content to suck Crisco through a straw while glacier camping, touring cemeteries, and restaurant-hopping.

Not trying to defend anyone, but I feel better climbing at 175lbs than I ever did at 165. My speed is possibly a hair slower, but I don't get the zero-calorie crash and can press on for much longer periods of time without refueling. Overall, I feel better and have more endurance. A little spare fat doesn't hurt endurance/mountaineering IMO. Strength for rock climbing is another matter. I'm sure pulling up and extra 10lbs is not a positive for those who climb beyond 5.9. (I'm not one of those people.)

If Isreal attacks Iran we will see 7 dollar gas by the end of the summer! so much for climbing past I-90 corridor. I guess the only benefit is sound tranist will pass expanded light rail What do you think a gallon of gas will cost if Iran has the geopolitical clout that demonstrated possession of nuclear weapons will bring?

Israel. Every right to.

Ya know, I guess I never thought of relating two entirely different topics like that! Amazing. Really gets me to thinkin'. Hey, can I have some of those lemons too?

Sorry, but our constitution provides for "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness". The old Soviet constitution covered the shelter, food, and job things, I believe. actually, I don't think they did. Chapter X, ARTICLE 118. Citizens of the U.S.S.R. have the right to work, that is, are guaranteed the right to employment and payment for their work in accordance With its quantity and quality. I'll have to look for the food and shelter. I assume you're talking about in practice.

It may be sad--and sometimes ugly--but reward commensurate with innovation and capital risk is what moves a nation forward. Even the Chinese now understand this.

With or without the axles? Aw, you're just upset 'cause your wife's gettin' halfa yours in the decree.

My wife and I purchased our first house in 1987 for $68,500 @ 10.325% interest.

Ain't no house worth that kinda money.

Did the previous owner wrap with Tyvek®?

Before I make a deposit, can you certify there is no dry rot?

Despite the out of control shrubbery in the front yard, the interior is about what one would expect.

I don't know, but if it's just going to go onto the world market and not feed American consumption then I don't see the point. But it's ironic that lib/enviro's don't like: 1.)Oil 2.)Nuclear 3.)Coal 4.)Hydro 5.)Wind ...and their biofuels/ethanol program now threatens to starve people in third world countries. Caves, anyone!

You're kinda dense. Already posted by comrade Prole yesterday. 132 lbs? Be careful; it's getting windy outside.
