WTF? Is that, like, the preterite tense of the second-person singular McCarthyar?
-
Actually, I'm pretty well versed on the whole picture--but there's always more to learn. Could it be that you're misunderstanding the point of my posts which often draw comparisons to and/or contrasts with past American presidents? I'm not sure where your Darwin jibe comes from; obviously you don't know me very well. You do seem a little tense lately. Nothing to march against these days?

A war of choice. Well done, Abe. Union dead; 364,511. Wounded; 281,881. Confederate dead; 260,000. Wounded; Unknown. Southern civilians dead; Unknown.

Jim, Prole, and j_b--in sequence and predictable. I've struck gold and snared the cc.com commie trifecta! Julios all. The only one missing now is Chairman Treetoad. Doesn't he know The People's Congress is in session?

I gotta give the president credit here, he handled this one well and his answer was solid. But it's got to be embarrassing when you realize that these are the people who voted you into office. [video:youtube]

What a waste. One of the best actors ever. He'd probably fit right in at a cc.com pub-club too.

I think that, deep down, you actually like this whole debacle. It slows consumption, and brings us one step closer to the type of government you dream of. Dumbshit.

That's good. Three strikes is a fuckin bitch of a law. Harsh. 3 Strikes Laws: Society's way of saying "we've had enough a your shit".

And yet your version of this moral, civilized society would still allow for the dismemberment killing of unborn human life in a purely cost/benefit analytical manner. I think you should examine your own eroded humanity. A moral society does not kill its children.

It is your lack of interest in history and blind ideology that lead you to the conclusion Bush did anything extraordinarily dark. Compare to FDR and Lincoln? You've got to be kidding. Let's see: FDR imprisoned American citizens by the tens of thousands in concentration camps without charge or trial, firebombed Japanese cities with no military value and killed perhaps more than a million civilians, ordered the electrocution of German "saboteurs" who had harmed no one, attempted to stack the supreme court... Lincoln sent federal troops in to NY to suppress Irish rioters--1100 were killed, arrested staff of the Chicago Tribune, suspended Habeas Corpus for American citizens, and raised an army that started the US toward a war of choice in which almost one million were killed. We've been over all this before, matt. Bush is small potatoes compared to the "crimes" these two imposed on American citizens. Any attempt to break you out of that box you're in is going to have to come from within--and I don't see that happening anytime soon. BTW, Jospeh: "Neocon" is left-code for Jew and the fact that you include Wolfowitz in every reference thereto lends no credence to your arguments whatsoever. You can deny your bigoted beliefs if you like, but your repetition of the word over and over and over is seeping hatred.

This whole thread is a fucking joke. If skiers are taking the path of least resistance up/along a slope, then it is understandable why snowshoers and booters would too. I have never stomped on top of a ski track when on showshoes--because I'm a skier too-- but I don't get upset at others that do. Do skiers own the fucking hills now? I used to become annoyed when downhill boots would obliterate a nice uphill boot-track, until I realized my annoyance was a symptom of inadequate physical conditioning. I suspect this is what is at the root of Prole's irritability. Also; how fat is too fat? I'm skiing a 122/95/114--now considered "mid fat"--am I not "allowed" to use an existing track? Who's gonna stop me? Do you guys bitch when it starts snowing too?

Compare the post of an open mind... ...with that of one that is closed:

I know that arguing toe to toe with the rightwing is distasteful to people like you but you fail to realize that 3rd grade level rhetoric and below is what has set this country's course for decades now. Millions listen to fucking rush limbaugh and until you recognize that fact and get your pretty hands dirty, the barbarians will keep running all over you. Attacking the intellectual capacity of those with whom they disagree is a hallmark of those on the left, but dig deep and you'll discover that about 95% of these goof-balls lack any of the academic credentials they try to project or claim to possess. Most are just lost souls unable or unwilling to compete in a free society, or simply believers that the free market does not properly reward their own perceived intellectual superiority. j_b in a nut shell.

Well said, JayB. In the case of airstrikes on the homes of islamic killers I think the blame for any ensuing carnage lies squarely on the shoulders of those who sought refuge behind women and children. A case in point was the Hezbollah missile attacks on Israel launched from the roofs of apartment buildings in Lebanon. The doctrine of 'total war' is another story and I'm less comfortable with it. Tecumseh Sherman was probably the first American to embrace the practice when he deliberately took the war to southern civilians, but FDR's firebombing of civilian targets in Japan with no military value to speak of was immoral in the extreme--even more so that the atomic bombings later that year, that at least had the sole purpose of forcing a surrender. But the question you propose is one of statistical morality. Who is a darker soul? The pilot of the B29 killing innocents by the thousands as they huddle in their basements, or the junior officer who places a pistol against the head of a man and pulls the trigger? And if refusing to stoop to our enemies level--even just a little--means the demise of our culture and macro-ideals in the long run, then what, exactly, was the difference? Who is worse? The pilot? I believe the man in the second photo is--but I understand why others would disagree.

So I guess no one is up to the challenge--or just don't know. It's the "do something" disease--and, in j_b's case, a mental deficiency.

Exactly what is in this spending bill that you like so much? Be specific.

There are things a man values more than his own life and physical comfort. I'm just saying...

I know the 2nd Law disproves evolution. JC: No it doesn't: http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/thermo/bioentropy.html#c1 http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/thermo/seclawcon.html#c1 TTK: The only problem I have with entropy is it's bleak outlook on the fate of the universe. Energy and matter in eternal balance under law #1 feels a lot nicer.

Just a few quick ideas: "Scratched Helmet"? "Shrinkage"? "Not Very Hard"? "5.0"? "Bulldog"? "Ghey Belay"? "Slipknot"? "Streak"? "Skidmarks"?
