  1. Well said. But...if all goes according to plan...slackers like j_b...are gonna get...FREE healthcare!!!!! Did you hear me? I said FREE!!!!
  2. ...but none of religious zealots in your pictures are wearing bombs or blowing up school children or beating women.
  3. Huh? You're kidding, right? The Iranian election is a sham--no matter who is "declared" the winner. Even you likely know this. As for the "reform" candidate--Mr Hossein Mousavi--he was one of Ayatollah Khomeini's top henchmen in the early 1980's and personally ordered the execution of over 7000 political prisoners (Kind of a post-Islamic revolution version of Che Guevara). Until the people of Iran somehow tear themselves away from the most ardent practitioners of the most fucked up religion on the planet there will be no democracy in that nation. But I'm glad you're celebrating.
  4. Trip: Eldorado Peak - East Ridge Date: 6/14/2009 Trip Report: Did a 12 hour round trip up Eldorado today with my little brother Steve and his buddy Justin. Big thunderheads to the east, but they left us alone. Sun was out--after some clouds and fog--and the views were spectacular. Snow was soft and begins at the top of the upper boulder field.
  5. Give me a call when you do--if you're interested in any company. Turns for peace and understanding, or something like that.
  6. :tup:Did you get any turns in Deception Basin?
  7. What you state is all true--and yet another part of the conflict that rages within my soul.
  8. ????
  9. So she calls it Gus?

Sweet freckled innocence? Drug-addled, sex-crazed killer? Am I going to hell for thinking she's kind of hot either way?
  11. "Thou shalt not make a machine in the likeness of a human mind."
  12. Exactly. And you don't seem the least bit concerned. Certainly a lot less than the current condition where we are raked over the coals by the for-mega-profit insurance companies. And clout to reduce the cost of drugs for instance (like the VA)? Damm straight that would be a vast improvement. I vehemently disagree and believe history is on my side. Will the safety net be there for all under your single-payer scheme? Sure. But what will happen to the financial incentive for the pharmaceutical companies you're so fond of bashing? Do you really think they'll continue to advance their science at its current pace? I use this as an example, but it applies across the health care landscape. The system you envision will be purely political. That your bleeding heart can't bear the current paradigm wherein costs are redistributed matters not. That your pleas for liberty under a Bush government now support what is, potentially, the most intimate and personal government intrusion in to our lives--ever--is only mildly amusing. That lefties like yourself fall victim to the rule of unintended consequences time after time is truly sad given the high levels of worth you all seem so fond of assigning yourselves.
  13. Exactly. And you don't seem the least bit concerned.
  14. 25,000,000/300,000,000=8.3% uninsured. Not worth overhauling the system. A private policy for a late twenty-something is $160/month. I would rather see the government mail a check than rip apart a system that is only partially flawed. Once the government controls access to health care, they control your life.
  15. I like the insurance I have. Any attempt to take it away and replace it with long lines, government bureaucrats, and rat-infested clinics will make me deadly upset--and I suspect I'm not alone on this.
  16. Like illegals?
  17. This a bold statement. Can you back it up?
  18. Peter's not talking Jesus Camp; he's taking about the mainstream media.
  19. Cross from Royal Basin into Deception Basin and climb/ski to the head of Mystery Glacier. From the col you can either ski the glacier and back out the way you came, do a couple laps up Hal Foss Peak and Mount Fricaba, or (maybe) ski down Del Monte Ridge and out the Duckabush River to Boulder Shelter and back to the car where you began for a nice loop trip.
  20. So you're against the resurrection of the "Fairness Doctrine"? I'm really not sure because your prose is virtually unreadable. Are you presently intoxicated?
  21. Is Israel bringing the charcoal?
  22. Of course. This act is clearly a case of domestic terrorism. I'll even grant that it's a good deal more repulsive that those Oregon ELF-types burning down laboratories or ski lifts--acts that seem to bring out the chirping crickets with avatars like yours. But if you had bothered to calm your jerking knee you might have taken my comparison at face value. Yes, both the murder of the abortion doc and the islam convert murder of the Army recruiter are terrorism.
  23. Diversion? I think it's an apples to apples comparison. Heck, I hear e-lawyers do it all the time. I just love the way you goof-balls get all riled up when your world view is questioned.
  24. Ugh, don't gimme that crap. While technically true, apart from the 1% smart enough to see the political downside to the act, the other 99% felt like the sun shone a little brighter, food tasted a little better, and life was like getting licked on the face by a puppy. Pro life my ass. Religion of peace my ass. Hey, you might be on to something BIG here! Does the same hold true for all--I mean 99% of--Muslims post 9/11?
  25. No. I just want you and yours to display consistency from time to time and apply some of that critical thinking you seem so fond of touting even absent your own application thereof.
