The election of 1876 is one of the most interesting in American history. Hayes ended up being appointed President by a commission made up of 15 members from the senate, house, and supreme court--by one vote. This, despite the fact that Samuel Tilden won the popular vote.

Actually, I'm pretty well versed on the whole picture--but there's always more to learn. Could it be that you're misunderstanding the point of my posts which often draw comparisons to and/or contrasts with past American presidents? I'm not sure where your Darwin jibe comes from; obviously you don't know me very well. You do seem a little tense lately. Nothing to march against these days?

It is your lack of interest in history and blind ideology that lead you to the conclusion Bush did anything extraordinarily dark. Compare to FDR and Lincoln? You've got to be kidding. Let's see: FDR imprisoned American citizens by the tens of thousands in concentration camps without charge or trial, firebombed Japanese cities with no military value and killed perhaps more than a million civilians, ordered the electrocution of German "saboteurs" who had harmed no one, attempted to stack the supreme court... Lincoln sent federal troops in to NY to suppress Irish rioters--1100 were killed, arrested staff of the Chicago Tribune, suspended Habeas Corpus for American citizens, and raised an army that started the US toward a war of choice in which almost one million were killed. We've been over all this before, matt. Bush is small potatoes compared to the "crimes" these two imposed on American citizens. Any attempt to break you out of that box you're in is going to have to come from within--and I don't see that happening anytime soon. BTW, Jospeh: "Neocon" is left-code for Jew and the fact that you include Wolfowitz in every reference thereto lends no credence to your arguments whatsoever. You can deny your bigoted beliefs if you like, but your repetition of the word over and over and over is seeping hatred.

This whole thread is a fucking joke. If skiers are taking the path of least resistance up/along a slope, then it is understandable why snowshoers and booters would too. I have never stomped on top of a ski track when on showshoes--because I'm a skier too-- but I don't get upset at others that do. Do skiers own the fucking hills now? I used to become annoyed when downhill boots would obliterate a nice uphill boot-track, until I realized my annoyance was a symptom of inadequate physical conditioning. I suspect this is what is at the root of Prole's irritability. Also; how fat is too fat? I'm skiing a 122/95/114--now considered "mid fat"--am I not "allowed" to use an existing track? Who's gonna stop me? Do you guys bitch when it starts snowing too?

Millions listen to fucking rush limbaugh and until you recognize that fact and get your pretty hands dirty, the barbarians will keep running all over you. Attacking the intellectual capacity of those with whom they disagree is a hallmark of those on the left, but dig deep and you'll discover that about 95% of these goof-balls lack any of the academic credentials they try to project or claim to possess.
