  1. I have no idea what this is about, but please, don't let me stand in the way of your straw man stuffing project. Carry on.
  2. That's difficult to say, but I do understand that a noun is never used in the place of an adjective to describe another noun. I also understand you were attempting to portray yourself as some kind of intellectual giant by using words like metric in its verb form, but, honestly, the smart lefty minority is nowadays so interchangeable with the poseurs that it is often hard to tell who is the real deal. You're most certainly not.
  3. You find? sure, the fringe left is driven by fringe theories--same as always, just like the fringe right. your point? That the left is being driven by its fringe! Not Obama, necessarily, but the Dem congress for sure.
  4. Read the entire thread slow-da-boy. It's not very long yet, so you should be ok.
  5. I find that the left these days is driven, primarily, by fringe conspiracy theories--and anger. Limbaugh generates more anger from the left than he garners among his own listeners and supporters. As usual, you have it exactly backwards. BTW; while Stewart is funny, most lefties are not, which is why they can't seem to gather enough of an audience to make a go of it financially. (Think Al Franken/Air America.)
  6. ...Herbert Clark Hoover (August 10, 1874 – October 20, 1964) was the 31st President of the United States (1929–1933). Besides his political career, Hoover was a professional mining engineer and author. As the United States Secretary of Commerce in the 1920s under Presidents Warren Harding and Calvin Coolidge, he promoted government intervention under the rubric "economic modernization". In the presidential election of 1928 Hoover easily won the Republican nomination despite having no previous elected office experience... Hoover deeply believed in the Efficiency Movement (a major component of the Progressive Era), arguing that a technical solution existed for every social and economic problem. That position was challenged by the Stock market crash of 1929 that took place less than 8 months after Hoover's taking office, and the Great Depression that followed it which gained momentum in 1930. Hoover tried to combat the Depression with volunteer efforts and government action, none of which produced economic recovery during his term...
  7. Awww, c'mon GGK, you're not still upset about the rump-pumping the Russians gave your mom and dad are you? I mean, heck, they were almost as gentle as the Germans from what your grandma said. I wouldn't be surprised if you're half Rooskie and one-quarter German yourself!
  8. ...and look what happened: An additional 9 years of economic misery.
  9. funny - been teaching the french revolution the past week - having my kids recollect all the time some doorknob suggested shit like this as a solution to a societal problem - comparing it to "the terror" and other moments of the revolution - exactly how succesful is your proposal in improving a damn thing again? A little background on my proposal for your consideration and like-outrage. http://cascadeclimbers.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/868443/1/Criminal_Irresponsibility
  10. You know, Prole, someone should stuff a petrol-soaked rag into your face hole and light it. For an edu-debtor who refuses to work and wants society to pay all his bills, you sure know how to epitomize arrogance.
  11. You Matt(?): Yes, that show he put on will likely cause me to reassess my interest in him as a future candidate. (You should try reconsidering one or two of your opinions someday too.) But let's face it; glamor and smooth talk notwithstanding, Jindal offered up about the same amount of substance and plan detail as Obama. Zero.
  12. Does anyone really think enforcement expenditures would weaken with new tax revenues at stake? The 'drug war' would continue on in earnest, albeit under a new banner.
  13. You mean the "free money"...that isn't really free at all?
  14. Your post is a pretty clear indication of why people like you can never be allowed to govern. As for Jindal; he's my pick for 2012.
  15. Maybe someone gave him a long-overdue blanket party?
  16. We should have been listening to j_b all along!
  17. It's said that those who don't understand history are doomed to repeat it, but I believe it repeats anyway. [video:youtube]
