Liberals? Huh? Someone put some liquid paranoia into your coffee this morning?

How is banning gay marriage going to protect straight marriage? That's what I don't get. Straight people sure know how to desecrate the institution their damn selves. There's no way we have to worry about procreation going into decline, not with Mormonism being the fastest-growing religion in the world.

[TR] Red Mountain- southwest face 2/22/2004
slothrop replied to highclimb's topic in the *freshiezone*
Sweet! Saw your tracks today from Snoqualmie and started drooling. -
Had a great couple days there in April one year. No lines at the Smoke Bluffs, even.

Nah, go for the Stubais if you can spare the cash. The Cassins' antibots don't fit and they're hard to adjust.

How nice it was to be climbing dry cracks on the UW rock in February.

Dood, that's, like, terrain 'n shit. I watched some snowboarders sideslip an entire blue run at Alpental while I was belaying at Stellar Falls.

Yeah. Maybe. How about one (black, of course) that says, "God is dead. - Nietzsche" and "Nietzsche is dead. - God". That'll slay 'em.

That is, hands down, one of the worst websites I have ever seen. My eyes!

You might. /tmp filled up on me the other day.

IE's temporary files are different than the temporary files used by the rest of your computer. They may be scattered around in some places (like in a badly-behaving program's installation directory) or they might be in the system temp directory (usually C:\WINNT\temp). You can delete anything in the system temp directory.

The climbs to the right are better if you think having pro detracts from the experience. Very thin... I wonder if a top-rope will reach (there is a nice tree directly above each climb)? The ice on Hubba Hubba was fat in sections, but there were holes here and there, and a mixed move or two the way eric8 and I went. Plenty of possibility for variation, though. There's a top-rope-able 15-foot freehanging icicle next to Alphabet Rock if you need something to finish off the day. Lots of dry rock, too.

Orange Sunshine's 10b in Nelson, seems right on.

Make them links rather than images. The image tag only works with URLs that end in .jpg or .gif, I think.

Petey, better talk to your boy HRoark. He's not exactly engaging in civil, respectful discourse. But you like his tactics because he's on your side, right? This condescending argument doesn't go very far. Clearly there are nonrenewable resources. When you burn all the coal, there's no more coal to burn. Even if, after we've mined all of the metals out of the Earth's crust, we find a way to recycle our manufactured products to obtain new raw materials, it seems that it will be more expensive to do so than to use the now scarce raw material. Don't closed systems (like Earth) tend toward becoming an undifferentiated pile of matter and energy? It's pretty difficult to overcome entropy. There has to be a middle ground that doesn't involve calling each other fucktards and throwing insults at anything that smells like "liberals" or "republicans". Grow up. The intellectual types sound elitist, HRoark, because they want to engage you in facts and debate while you cop out with "fucktard".

If you're not feeling violent like Dru, you can just bring an armful of them when you go car camping (like at Smiff), where it's not much of a hassle to slap another canister on when one runs out.

Try to find a store where you can try these boots on and compare. REI probably carries the Koflachs.

It doesn't have to be a cabal; power and money are strong influences that don't have to be embodied in a sinister organization or communicated through a secret network. Greed is inherent. There doesn't have to be a cover-up, just a willingness to sacrifice the truth for profit. The "secret plan" is the well-known goal of spreading "democracy" and opening "free" markets wherever there is an opportunity.

Should Simon Have Abseiled Into the Crevasse?
slothrop replied to Billygoat's topic in Climber's Board
One screw and two ice tools. You could do this: place screw, stand on it. Pound in both tools, equalize, do a pullup until you can haul the good leg into the sling attached to the tools. Clean screw, repeat for 80 feet. Easier said than done, but less scary than lowering oneself into that crevasse. That part gave me the willies. -
Face down in a keyboard somewhere, most likely.

A lot of what those people are complaining about regarding Halliburton, et al., and the awarding of contracts is the lack of transparency involved. Huge contracts were awarded without a competitive bidding process. WTF? Halliburton, meanwhile, did recently acknowledge and repay about $6 million in kickbacks that one of their employees received. This is old news anyway, Jay. Plenty of people from all "sides" have been benefiting from business with Iraq during Saddam's regime. There's been plenty of uproar. Didn't Rumsfeld give Saddam a set of golden spurs of something back in the 80s? The French, the Russians, pretty much anyone, had business interests in Iraq.

So this guy thinks Dean is "selfish"? Ouch. A presidential candidate, selfish? We are truly in a sad state of affairs. Bush, on the other hand, is a real "caring and sharing" kind of guy and we should keep him in office just because he gives our troops such warm fuzzies. Ali must be a very special Iraqi to never have seen anything bad come from US troops in his country. Further, he must be that very special kind of Iraqi who has a deep knowledge of and daily experience with Bush's domestic policy. It's our election, dammit -- you'll get your own... if Bush ever allows it. How hard is it to understand that you can appreciate the sacrifice and devotion of our troops without agreeing with their mission? It's like supporting your family members even if you don't understand their lives or their passions. The quote is out of context anyway. Is Dean referring to Iraqis or Americans giving their lives?

Having to spend the weekend redoing all the work I fucked up during the week.

Should Simon Have Abseiled Into the Crevasse?
slothrop replied to Billygoat's topic in Climber's Board
Maybe this was already covered in the book, but why didn't Simpson aid out of the crevasse on his tools and the one screw he had? I remember he tried climbing out, but the ice was overhanging and he was obviously in no shape for WI6 at that point.
