  1. Well written. Gotta love the Snoqualmie Alps. So close to town , plenty of fun. Not many cities can boast that.

    Big Walls

When I got started climbing. I was mostly interested in walls to. It allows huge walls to be done with a casual, fun pace. Even now, I have enjoyed being really fast at aid climbing as a result of hundreds of pitches.Like ice, you can get into some great "positions". Ridiculous places that you dont belong. Exposure you dont deserve. Walling gave me a base of technical experience and problem solving, that still serves me much later. Enjoy walls and see where it leads. I would still be doing it today, but I dont like all the gear, and long belays. Solo helps with that . Will prolly do more as I age.
  3. "Scurlock-on-skiis" Strikes again. Would love to see a map of the tour

  14. Trip: The Replicant - Date: 1/12/2012 Trip Report: Wow, what an ice route The Big R is! Cant imagine doing it as a mixed route. It is in good shape right now. Pitch 1 is a hollow hook-fest and bouldery, p2 is a free hanging dagger yet isnt too bad. P3 is relentless wi5 and a long 60m if you still have gas in the tank.(I did not) One for the dream list for sure, pics and story here. Gear Notes: Many screws, we took 13 Approach Notes: Study this one and expect some wallowing.
  15. Thanks Colin, damn shame more people dont go to this incredible venue. What is it about the hogsback?
  16. Lane and I did do Yack Check in early march of 05. It was freakishly warm and not really a winter experience. I remember admiring the ice across the valley though.

  23. Trip: - Death Picnic Date: 12/22/2011 Trip Report: Always on the lookout for steep ice, I found 3 friends ( Tom S., Daniel J, and Powderhound) who were looking for their first outing. After much taunting on this site, and oogleing over Jeff Streets photos from last year, we headed out for it. It proved to be an exhilarating climb, well worth the drive and 1 hr approach. Bring on the season! More on my site Gear Notes: Screws, some shorter ones too Approach Notes: Upper right Baker ski area parking lot. Up valley to the west to Herman /Table saddle. Go across super steep slope around Table and go farther that the first ice you see.
