I drove from 11worth around noon on Monday (upper thirties f and rain). Snow on the road at the north end of Tumwater Canyon with slushy rain coming down (34f). Drove into a section of realtively dry snow on the curves before the Berne maintenance shed (32f). Slush on road all the way to the pass and light rain (33f). The temperature rose 10 degrees just beyond the crest, with bare, wet road and strong gusts all the way to Gold Bar.

I initially got my son and daughter onto skis two years ago. All I did for them was to hold my poles out horizontally to the side and let them use them like handlebars. They practiced "making a slice of pizza" like dad while holdng on and soon they were letting go for longer and longer stretches of time. My son was independant after two days of skiing and my daughter after 4. I agree with the others when I say that the goal at the end of the day was they had fun and wanted to do it again. Snacks and hot chocolate was integral in that plan.

My friend Robert was standing on the ledge of the third pitch of Davis-Holland when it happened. isnt that like one of the worst tequilla's...? they make it gold by adding some sort of sugar which makes you really hungover, if you want to drink shitty tequilla drink the Cuervo silver stuff otherwise stick to the patron I only drink one drink, Crown Royal with Ginger Ale and not that shit you guys call Ginger Ale If im in the states then its Crown and 7up..and I do like the free pour ... I like the taste of gold tequila mixed. Patron (and Herradura) are straight up tequilas. Seems wasteful to mix them with anything. Sapphire is another straight-up (or on ice) drink. Too tasty to mix with anything but ice.

Pain and anguish...

Driving in a steady drizzle in Glacier National Park several years ago, I came around a corner to see a sleeping bag lying in a dirt pull-out with somebody's feet sticking out of the top. I slowed to be sure of what I was looking at. The bag never moved and I got this really creepy feeling up and down my spine. I kept on going.

The Norwegian Buttress routes on Mt Index and the North Face routes on Mt Baring are big and steep. The scariness factor is pretty subjective, but these routes don't get a lot of traffic for 'some' reason.
