Bill I think it's a PDX thing.....a few years ago I mentioned that PDX seems to have more than its share of disputes & petty arguments. Elevating oneselve by smacking the other guy down seems the PDX way.

It's called Rock Climbing OW. All the cool guys rap after the crux. That area has the best rock on an otherwise less than glamorous mountain.

Ah I did use a hip belay on someone this year because I didn't have a belay device but with thin ropes a hip belay is a pain. I haven't climbed in Europe but the last couple of times I climbed with a Euro it was with a skinny non single rated rope and a chain link. The chain question was serious.

If you're so interested in saving weight, why don't you just use a link of chain as a belay device?

AH Porter it was a Grade VI Safeco weekend! Saturday was cold as hell but Friday and Yesterday made up for it. I was planing on going to Tusday's game but it looks like I'll have to work! Tip of the day: Always bring your DS to the Safe!
