  1. Good point. On “BIG” things fast means free soloing or at least pretty close to it. In that respect light means increasing the difficulty in which you can climb that way. I think that as you get to the smaller climbs the whole light is right game changes. I remember reading an essay Alex McIntyre 25 years ago talking explicitly about the need for light and the need to be able to solo both up and down.
  2. Actually Vahalla already has some routes.

  11. The Zeke's Boulders are MIGHTY and to me at least more attractive than the Zeke's walls. Some of them are bigger than some of the cliffs at 38. Go check them out!
  12. Never heard of it but how is the Monroe gym? If I ever get rained out at Index would it be worth it to stop by and climb there? The only thing I can think of is Money Creek crags but they don't follow your description. PP

  15. Yvon is an attention seeker BS'er. He also said this. The Climbing in Yosemite "is neither aesthetic nor enjoyable, it is merely difficult." - Yvon Chouinard
  16. Minx - good question. Answer ti doesn't have to be. This site has given me hours of fun: Fairmdel If you want numbers that is. PP

  18. Scrambler at a given slice of time that is true. But in the real world the money supply is constantly changing even without the creation of moneyby the Federal government. Heck it is very difficult to even estimate the money supply at any given time let alone measure it accurately. Your zero-sum game is simply not a viable representation of a dynamic economy. The main point I believe he was making is that most people have no conception of what $87b is in relation to other thing in the US economy. I believe the same is true when people talk about campaign finance reforn. My standard retort is “do you think too much money is being spent on elections? “ “Oh you do How would you determine the proper amount?” “By the way since the US economy is the largest in the world and its success and failures impact not only the well being of Americans but also millions around the world - in at times literally life and death ways – don’t you think it is worth using resources to campaign for its control?” “How big is the US home detergent market and how much money is spent on advertising to get/gain market share in it?” PP
  19. From another site but I agree with his basic thought: That 87 billion is chump change for a nation with an 11 TRILLION dollar GDP. And where do you suppose that 8.7E10 dollars is going? Into a pit somewhere? NOPE. As for Clinton, his parsimony, his 'I don't give a F**K about national security attitude, and his 'kick the problem into the next guy's administration' is a big contributor to our current challenges. In short, you have demonstrated you know the price of everything and the value of nothing. To help you separate your head from your colon, Here is a homework exercise for ya, if you have the gonads to try it: 1. What percentage of GDP is 87 billion dollars? 2. What percentage of government spending (all levels) is it? 3. What percentrage of federal spending? 4. Of federal DISCRETIONARY spending? 5. Of national pet product spending? 6. Of national soft drink spending? Good luck, and thanks for playing. MG"
  20. I agree but bring it to the Rock Forum and we won't have to read/page by all the BS! PP
  21. Erik I'd explain it all to you but it would require lots of time being a belay slave! Are you willing to invest in yourslef?
  22. I think Dwayner has more than proved my point. It’s up to the powers that be and all of us to make this forum what it will become. I have expressed my opinion and am hopeful this forum will be a groovy thing that will encourage even more participation by the broader range of climbers. PP
  23. Well by that definition Dwayner's post is definately outta here! PP
