My own sense is that it will probably be forgotten by the election. Even if a culprit is found in the administration he/she will be cast off and the casting away will be another example of the "ethics" of the current administration. Since the story is in fact quite old a real cynic could think that the administration is coordinating the whole thing right now in order to get it out of the way if it spins out of control!

Erik - learn to tilt the camera! Nice Pic! What route? -
Mattp - I would add that even if I was to accept your "money interest" theory at a certain time an organization such as the CIA or the State Dept will at some point will hold its own interests and existence above all else. This self presevervation behavior will occur even to the extent that its actions are contrary to the established mission of the organization. PP

Winter calm down. I merely responded to the previous references of Clinton. By the way I think I did provide the best links to summarize the situation. Now what is interesting is the left is now relying on the CIA which has never in its known history misrepresented the truth for its own political agenda, could not be lying, whereas Novak, who is a Republican, is obviously lying scum! I just marvel at the way things work out.

It's the meth that makes me this way!

Novak's latest: "Nobody in the Bush administration called me to leak this. In July I was interviewing a senior administration official on Ambassador Wilson's report when he told me the trip was inspired by his wife, a CIA employee working on weapons of mass destruction. Another senior official told me the same thing. As a professional journalist with 46 years experience in Washington I do not reveal confidential sources. When I called the CIA in July to confirm Mrs. Wilson's involvement in the mission for her husband - he is a former Clinton administration official - they asked me not to use her name, but never indicated it would endanger her or anybody else. According to a confidential source at the CIA, Mrs. Wilson was an analyst, not a spy, not a covert operator, and not in charge of undercover operatives." Useful link: Rant PP To those who compare this to anything the Clinton's "did," I would suggest using the US military in an effort to distract public attention from his personal problems is a far greater crime. The fact that the left doesn't come to grips with this (Clinton's use of the military) issue is very telling.

Your post reveals either a desire to spray or complete ignorance on the history of “Islam” and current political thought as publicly expressed by Iranian leaders. For example, Hashemi Rafsanjani, the powerful chairman of Iran's Guidance Council, has talked of "the elimination of the Israel problem with the use of one nuclear bomb." PP

Stonehouse is up by Mt Thompson and is quite a bit shorter than 14 pitches. Easy hike in althoguh it is a bit long. Grizzly Falls to the north is a good ice climb if condition spermit. NE of thompson is June ? lake some good short routes there. Further west are some limestone routes.

Trask - I believe recent rulings have made such laws unenforceable. Think of the two guys in Texas. Except for the forcible part.

I doubt that will be the case Erik. More likely is that it will be used is the harrassment of tourists. Go there with your GF and bam you are guilty of a crime. Go there with your BF and boy are you in trouble.

So why is this in spray?!?!?!?!!? -
Fern's handcrack question got me thinking about what routes looked easy but ended up kicking your rear. First on my list is Hot Cherry Bendover. It looks like a short 5.8 route but it is actually pretty darn hard. Too bad it is off limits now. PP

With amibiguous wording such as "too tight" you can make the results of your test anything you wish.

Interesting news: The IRS has just released new tax data for 2001. They show that the share of total income taxes paid by the wealthy fell for the first time in many years, and rather sharply as well. In 2000, the top 1% of taxpayers--ranked by adjusted gross income--paid 37.4% of all federal income taxes (excluding payroll, estate and other taxes). In 2001, this share fell to 33.9%. This data will undoubtedly be used to show that the Bush tax cut benefited the rich disproportionately. However, a closer look at the data indicate that the tax share decline was due entirely to the stock market collapse and the recession. The aggregate AGI of the top 1% fell by $243 billion, reducing their share of total AGI from 20.8% to 17.5%. The income threshold for those in the top percentile fell from $313,469 to $292,913. This fall in income is what led to a decline in aggregate tax payments by this group from $367 billion to $301 billion. Proof that the tax cut was not responsible for the falloff in taxes paid by the very rich is shown by the fact that the average tax rate they paid actually went up slightly, from 27.45% in 2000 to 27.5% in 2001. For the first time, the IRS has broken down the figures for the very wealthy into finer detail. Previously, data were available only for the top 1% and top 5%. Now, data is provided for the top 0.1% and the top 2%, 3%, and 4% in addition to the usual data. IRS Link
