Wanted: Type S tapered shank 3/8" drill bits
Peter_Puget replied to bwwakaranai's topic in The Yard Sale
I never owned a "Fish" holder but used plenty of old Fish bits in my old Rawl. I think the bit in Gunkies picture may not fit the Fish holder if the fish holder was designed to take the fish 3/8" bits. The Rawl holder came in (at least) two sizes (#12? and #14?) one small and the other large. I can't remember which is which. The Fish bits all fit the smaller size. I might be leaving work early and will take some pics this afternoon if my garage isnt too messy. -
Have you considered a career in retail?

Missed something thats for sure......

Sure it’s kind of groovy but in many ways its another indication of the cul–de-sac that is fast approaching. As climbing becomes more and more a thinly veiled competition between men it becomes almost indistinguishable form all the other bullshit in life.

Really? I havent looked but it seems obvious to me this is false. Someone go look up the WA state budget and check this.

I think you are not really using theft in the correct manner. But I think you know that. If I buy a 600 disc changer and hook it up to my network and then load up 500 dvds I am fine streaming the dvds. Now if I do the sensible thing buy the DVDs and copy the DVDs to my network and stream from a central server I appear to be breaking some laws. Clearly a fucked up situation. Right now the studios seem to be of a mixed miind on how to deal with progress. Sony clearly want to screw the consumer over at every opportunity.

Cascadeclimber was using "grid bolted" as euphemism for over bolted or no risk pussy route. I just wanted to point out that some of the routes at WW1 have good size fall potential. It seems that many “sport” routes rely on zero bolt failures to be safe. If people don’t maintain the crags, eventually we will have a whole bunch of booby traps masquerading as routes. Kudos to the crew that upgraded the gear. On a side note: While a crag can be “grid bolted”, it is very rare for a route to be “grid bolted.”

Another way to view it is how many climbers leading Butterfingers, Cosmic Debris, Tales of Power in the Valley place gear more than 10 feet or so apart - these routes all can eat up pro so you can stretch it a bit and be certain you can plan gear whenever you stop. The answer from my observation is very few.

Doesn't the final section of the .14a off of Psychosomatic have a runout section?

Oval Orifice I get the names mixed up on a lot of the routes.

Another rockin' CC.com thread! In general I am not a big lover of WWI. Years ago it was because I didn't like the rock and lately it's because my ego keeps getting crushed there - (it's still not my fav kind of climbing.) Still I thought I would make a couple of comments. 1) Lots of climbers go there it the winter. ((Link ) Many of the people I usually climb with go there mostly between November and April. 2) Many of the routes on WWI are pretty daring for being "grid bolted." If you think WWI is only grid bolted (assuming you are knowledgable about the routes) you a pretty bold climber.

In many countries software such as DVDfab (which I do not own) is legal to use on your purchased dvds. As I mentioned several posts ago, the way I suggest to deal with Sony is quite simple: Boycott Sony. Pretty simple. Aboslutely clear. Much like I stopped buying Sony CDs when they snuck in the rootkit in cds. ( link )To me not allowing dvds to be copied to servers and sreamed is simply the result of vested interests throwing their weight around to the detriment of logic and fairness. Deinately not a free market at all.In any event in coming years dvds will be a thing of the past. At the risk of more academic BS check out some of this guy's writings: bhide

Bill - I believe that the paper I linked attempts to explain a change in commodity price behavior. The graphs on page 33 show examples of this change. I would read their conclusion on page 29. Commodities have returned as an investment class which offers protection against currency depreciation. A partial and yet possibly significant third factor contributing an overall increase in commodity prices. I think that changes in commodity prices have dwarfed changes in the exchange rates. So to that extent I think you overstate the impact of "Dollar valuation." I am unsure what you mean by "stockpiling." For example your nuclear power link seems to indicate the Chinese have an increasing demand for moly. Certainly there is nothing nefarious about commodity prices rising from increased demand. On the other hand purchasing of commodities simply for speculation is something different. Is there a sustained and general increase in stored commodities? (commodity prices have been increasing overall) In any event price increases fueled only by speculation will be by necessity a short-lived phenomenon. I am no expert just thought I’d post a link I thought interesting and related to your posting as of late. This was inspired by the recent news that the Cinavia DRM protection on PS3 had been circumvented. (http://ca.finance.yahoo.com/news/DVDFab-Provides-the-World-prnews-4199346147.html?x=0) I like to have movies stored on a central server be available throughout the house. (Music too) Nothing to do with piracy and illegal distribution. I think that there is nothing wrong with buying a dvd and storing it on my server for my own use. Clearly Sony feels otherwise.

But back on subject - boycott Sony!
