you can get a few sorts of those noodles at most big supermarket grocery stores. just look in the "oriental" section.

i use the easy daisies a lot. i've never had them slip. ever. you are quite possibly using them wrong. your weight shouldn't matter. i've showed them to other people and watched them attach the 'biner incorrectly as well - like what mtngrrrl was describing. well, it's a racing boot, eh? i've heard it skis pretty well - good lateral stiffness. you could get a stiffer tongue to beef up the performance when you need to. and a custom liner to cut down on the weight a little. the color's hideous but i'd think not to the point that it'd invoke beatings.

i see some blue sky up here in whis ... but it sure is surrounded by a hell-of-a-lot of clouds.

not necessarily at the bottom. you want it close to your center of gravity.

hmm. curious to see if anyone has a great solution. i always find the rack a bit annoying to pack as well. my grivel pack has gear loops that are nice to hang parts of the rack from and help keep things a big organized, but when i pack it really full like that i get cams sticking me in the back. (ouch!) usually i just lay the rack sideways on top of the rope bag ...
