damn, that was a short "winter"!

unfortunately there is also this american mentality that somebody else is to blame even when poor judgment or bad luck plays a role in an accident ... usually some one (or more to the point, some business) with money. and hence the ski resorts are forced to implement some sort of scheme to try to protect themselves ... and hopefully others in the process. if you're not interested in their rules, it's simple enough to go elsewhere.

you might give the boot-fitting department at sturtevant's (in bellevue, wa) a call. i would think they'd be happy to impart some wisdom ...

two of my favorites that my boyfriend's made me are seafoood enchiladas and spicy thai cashew chicken. not things i would normally order in a restaurant but the ones he makes ROCK!!! you'd have to hit him up for the recipes, though. i'd say a pasta with a sauce that requires a little more work than pouring it out of a can (like at least adding sauteeed vegetables and a nice salad) is a very simple yet decent meal. salmon is also a simple one that is perhaps a little more elegant. fajitas are good and easy, too. i love thai food myself. and sometimes steak. mmm, making myself hungry!

stevens pass: "STEVENS IS CLOSED TODAY, Tuesday, January 18 AND TOMORROW Thursday, January 19. Due to adverse, heavy rain conditions, we are closed today and tomorrow. We expect to open again Thursday, January 20, conditions permitting, but please check back periodically for updates." snoqualmie: "Due to severe weather and in an effort to conserve snow, The Summit will be closed today, Tuesday, January 18th. We do intend to resume operations on Wednesday, but be sure to check back for details." baker: "We are going to pull our parachute for the next few days, and close the mountain Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. We will re-open Friday. This is due to the rather extreme amount of rain forecast for all of the Cascades for the next three days." crystal: "Due to the wacky weather, lift tickets have been reduced to $30. The Chinook Express & Forest Queen lifts are open from 9am-4pm. All other lifts are closed until further notice."

this is true. i was thinking about that this weekend. but i figured it's better to have gear and no car than a car and no gear. so i bought a pair of dynafit comforts this weekend. (OUCH!) not that i'll be using them any time soon around here, but they were on sale. i couldn't get my act together this weekend to get up skate skiing. i still need poles anyway, but i'm hoping i will still have a chance to get out and do it later this season. anybody go check out the race?
-
i gotta jet, but will try to digest this evening. thank you for letting me know about sunday's event. i may very well be interested in checking that out!
-
aw, why it gotta be so far away? might have to save that for a whole weekend venture ...
-
i thought leavenworth would be a great place but i'm not sure i want to drive there for a day trip, especially with my car (who seems to be hating driving up hills anymore). but maybe i'll have do it anyway. i know i don't *need* a lesson, but i think it's a good idea. how far of a drive is the methow from seattle really? (like from uw?)
-
anybody been lately? where's good? actually, i need to take my first lesson ever - anybody got any recommendations for where/who?
-
hey swaterfall, kailas called me the other day and told me you were not having a very good trip. that is seriously lame. and in such an awesome place to be. can't say i've been there exactly, but i feel your pain. hope your winter's going well otherwise. kailas said he was snowed in town. i would say it sucks to be stuck in a place where there's so much snow you can't ski it ... but i'm not gonna because i'm stuck in a place where there isn't enough and i think that's a much worse problem!
-
yeah, distel knows how to take care of himself.
-
i hope people will be careful and cautious out there this weekend. i don't know 'bout y'all but i think it's time for me to learn how to skate ski. woohoo - another sport where i can wear lycra!
-
you evil, evil people - stop tempting me with great prices on gear!!!
-
maybe so, but it's worth the trip. and if you don't think that alone is worth the trip, eating up the street at oaxaca will definitely make it worth it!

did i miss something? has the name of the skier been released?
