  1. my bf has that book. i guess it's on that list of 100 best adventure books or something ... and it's about flying. pretty good read. i recently read "one flew over the cuckoos nest" and "to kill a mockingbird" - trying to catch up on some of the classics most americans read in high school. started "electric kool aid acid test" but haven't gotten very far as i don't find it a very compelling read. the book i'm supposed to be reading is "risk financing" ... yuck!
  2. for future reference lowe alpine makes a pack like the genie. pms used to carry them but i haven't been in there lately so don't know if still do.

    hint of fall

drivers around here freak out every time the weather changes - doesn't matter if it's from rain to sun or sun to rain. i don't get it. loving this cool weather for a change, though.
  4. i don't have time. i really need something to wake me up, though. i've got 5 hours of opera to sit through tonight!
  5. btw, from what i've heard usaa seems to be a relatively good ins co.
  6. i don't think they claim to offer a totally comprehensive report. they say on their site "While we'll never know everything about a particular car," and they have a link on their "about" page that lists some of their sources - auto auctions and some state's police departments and whatnot.
  7. i'm bored. this thread didn't help.
  8. took several gu (and a powershot gel) up rainier recently and none of them exploded.
  9. northwest? snoqualmie falls avalanche
  10. sweet, murray - what a gripping tale! glad you were able to eventually continue your voyage.
  11. i use my la sportiva mythos. they rock. some people prefer more support, but i prefer the feel and i've worn them quite comfortably all day.
  12. use whatever works. i've never carried one, and i think the only time my partner had one was when we were on a big wall. axes usually work fine; especially if you have a more technical axe with a hammer. if you really want a hammer and can't find a climbing-specific hammer you can afford, the hardware store should definitely have some cheaper viable options.
  13. i would hope people wouldn't take it that way. love yourself first. that doesn't mean you don't love others ...
  14. no; typically the flakes flake before getting a chance to be considered a climbing partner.
  15. oh yes. if you think the crevasse was fun, wait until you get on your first waterfall!
